Thumbs up Margery and anyone else who is interested in Pharoahs

Another book just out in 2005 is Tutankhamun by Sahi Hawass (national geographic).

Again, this is another area dd is interested in. We picked up the book from the library in Brandon today and wow is all I can say. This book has a wealth of information in it and the pictures are incredible.

I'd highly recommend it for anyone interested in or studying Pharoahs.

I love the passion Dr Hawass has for his counry's past and his work.

I just finished watching a Nova show with him in it. And I watched a show earlier this week (at 4 AM when I couldn't sleep) about Tuankhamun. It was really interesting, and probably the same work the book is based on. It was all about the Tutankhamun murder theory and the project to study his mummy for the first time in decades.

I won't tell what the findings revealed for anyone who didn't see it and wants to read the book, but the 2 hour show was great!

Egyptology has been a major passion of mine since I was just a little kid- really little. I remember taking books about Egypt out of the library when I was only about 8 or 9. They are some of the few books I will actually purchase anymore. I havent' gotten any out of the library in a long time, though, I'll have to see if they have this book.

Bob Brier is fun to read, too. He is quite the sensationalist, but if he brings an interest in Egyptian history to the masses, so be it. (He is the guy who made a "mummy" in the 90's and was a big proponent of the Tut murder theory. He does have a nice mummy compilation book, though.)

Thanks for the heads up, CJ. I do have another Hawass book, and I enjoy it (it was actually a gift for DD when I was pregnant from a soon-to-be forensic anthro friend.)
