Question What was the main attraction to drawing you to the town/city you live in

I'd have to say the price of our home, along with the taxes.

Dh and I grew up in neighboring towns. The two houses we bought were in my hometown. This house is in his hometown. If we move again, we'll have to move to a different town. This county is too expensive for us to upgrade again.

Gabe's current job relocated us. We'd never have landed here otherwise. I've never lived so far from a major city and it took a lot for me to acclimate.

In 100 yrs I'll never forget driving around and saying well we can see the rest of the city next weekend and finding out that was the ENTIRE city in the little drive we had already taken.

Oh I've always wanted to live here, but dh's company didn't have any openings for the longest time.

It's hot dry and sunny all summer. For a canadian city it's on the medium to small side which is nice, rural areas really easy to access. More a large town than a city in many ways.

It has a longer warm or summer season than most of Canada with the exception of Vancouver and Vancouver Island.

The winters aren't bad either, shorter than average, warmer than average for Canada.

It doesn't have the winter fog bank for as many days as Kelowna which is the other major desert climate city in BC. Kelowna has Okanagan Lake which gives it the fog and cloud ceiling much of the winter while we get quite a few brighter sunny days.

My job brought me here....in a round about way. Dh moved near here when he got his first job out of college. Then he transferred here a few years later. We got together than and have been here ever since 1995. Can't imagine ever living anywhere else. We both love it here...Boise is a small city (205,000) but we live out in the county away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough for all the things there are to do. And according to him, the hunting here is fabulous!

well, DH grew up around here. We were living in Dublin for a while but neither of us liked where we were so we decided to move down the country to Co. Wicklow.

We love it here, we are right next to the beach (5 min walk) and a few miles in the other direction are the wicklow mountains, its a nice quiet place that is safe and very little crime...It would be nice if it were a bit warmer occasionally LOL

The size of the lots (minimum 1 acre, but most homes have slightly more) and zoning (agricultural).

The fact that our parents live here--- we stay because:

    low taxes
    low crime
    excellent public school system
    fabulous neighbors
low cost of homes in general

We love living in a rural area. Our little town only has about 200 people and I am sure that they were counting pets and livestock in that census . The taxes are high but the low crime, great neighbors and beautiful area make up for it.

Well when we first moved here it was just a small diary community........now the dairies are gone and the town has more than doubled in size in 18 years!! It is still considered small town and it is a safe community!!

Our big draw to this area was that there was a house on the water with acreage that we could afford. Living on the water was/is like a dream to us. Quack quack

We knew we were going to rent. There was more than one bathroom and they allowed pets. Also, the yard was fenced in so we could let the dog run outside with out a leash.
