Question Out of curiosity, if you live in a town of under 500 would....

It be able to support 2 restaurants along with a hotel that has a lounge and steak pit?

Our town is looking at fixing up the hotel and making it into a lounge and steak pit.

I think it would all depend on the surrounding cities. Here for instance, I think it probably would make it due to that fact!!

With such a small town, I'm sure the developers have looked into this. I'd assume the majority of the business would have to be from "outsiders", because even if everyone of those 500 people went took a turn once a week, that is only filling 71 seats, which is not much if they are doing both lunch/dinner. But if your town can do it, more power to you!

Not around here-- poverty level in our county is over 80%. . . and nothing in the area to draw tourists or outsiders for any thing either.

I'd think they'd need a fair amount of road traffic to make a go of it. Whether from nearby towns or whatever.

You have a post office in town, so maybe if nearby farms or ranchers come in to get mail and do some shopping they'd stop for lunch during the day.

I would think it would be big enough....you could take into consideration the travelers that would benefit from these establishments as well as the residents of the area.
