Warm weather - no winter roads

We live in a province where there are many northern reserves and where there have got to be winter roads to bring in their much needed supplies.

Because of our warm weather this year, many of those roads cannot be made. (they are made on ice and the ice has to be 28 inchs of blue ice before transports can travel them). There is a huge concern these roads will not be made and the costs of bringing in supplies will be astronomical.

I had never heard of this until last week I think, I was watching a program on the Discovery Channel. I never knew that they trucked goods over the frozen ice of lakes and rivers up your way CJ. I just figured most goods went by train or plane.

Very interesting and I hope they freeze soon so the northern provinces can get their goods.
