Default Have You Ever Just Stopped Reading a Book?

Have you ever been reading a book and it is just so bad, or you just can't get into it, so you just put it down and don't go back?

I usually feel like I've invested so much time, I shouldn't stop reading, but I think there have been two books in my life that I've just stopped reading because it was an actual effort to read them.

Yes. I read so much that if it doesn't "Grab" me I just figure that book is not for me and I move on to the next thing in my stack. If someone has highly recommended it I will struggle on through but that's the only exception.

Default yup, 2 reasons boredom or sadness

that is exactly why with fiction, I always read the last 5 pages first. People ask me if it spoils it, and no it honestly doesn't.

It actually frees me up to enjoy how the writer builds and weaves the story to that conclusion without any fear that the writer will suddenly hit me with the emotional blow of sudden unexpected sadness.

I've had enough of that in my life, and don't care for any writer trying to put any extra on me so I check first.

I don't think I'm any more sensitive than anyone else, it's just I really hate that feeling and I feel betrayed like suddenly somebody up and slapped me when I'm into a plot line, and SURPRISE here it is, greif again.

and if I'm bored with it then, or after I read the end, the beginning isn't really good I drop it.

    No investment, no problem.

Life is too short to spend it all crying over some fictional grief, or being bored outta the gourd by something that drones on and on.

Yes, I've stopped reading lots of books, when I just couldn't get into them. One was 'Mother of Pearl", I couldn't get past the first few pages, I thought it was so bad. I guess it was just me though, since it was a best seller.

Yes, I've done that many times before. It's a waste of my time if I don't like what I'm reading.

I've done that several times. One was of an author I really liked too. After the 3rd time starting it, I finally finished it and was a very good book.

I never use to. I'd finish a book no matter how bad it was. The past couple years, if the book have me interested by the end of the second chapter, I don't finish it.

I wish I had a dollar for every book I started and didn't finish. If a book doesn't interest me by the time I've read 50 pages then I don't read further.

I have stopped reading several books. Of course I can't tell ya the titles. It amazes me how many books get published and they don't make sense. Storylines don't flow. There are major spelling and grammar errors.

Yes I've done that with a few books, if I can't get into them after the first few pages then I don't waste any more time on it!

In my youth, never. But now, sometimes. I think it is midlife crisis but I know there is not enough time for me to read every book that I may want to!
