Default Country Boys by David Sutherland

The same director of "The Farmer's Wife", just came out with Country boys.

It aired last week on PBS, but I wasn't able to watch it because we do not have cable. You can now watch the full program on PBS.org It's great! Also Country Boy and The Farmer's Wife are available of DVD, so I'm now able to rent them from Netflix. Yeah!

This was such a good documentary. I stayed up late every night watching it last week.

Plus, I'm currently reading Born Fighting by James Webb (which chronicles the Scots-Irish who settled in Appalachia) and the two really seemed to go hand in hand.

I watched this one too, I really enjoyed it, but it did make me sad at times.

It was rather depressing in some ways and uplifting in others. I think Chris Johnson has so much potential. I hope he can attend college and make a better life for himself.
Dndylfe- I'll have to read, 'Born Fighting", I'm of Scots- Irish descent.
But wait?? How can I be a fightin' Irish? I've never been in a fight in all my life.

We watched all three parts. I really enjoyed it.Chris and Cody were both good boys . But I think Chris has the attitude of most boys here in Ky. He was given alot , But didn't want to work for anything. Cody was an awesome kid. he had a rough begining to life but held tight to his faith in God. And the music to the show was great. Ray Riddle has an awesome voice. We are looking at house close to where it was filmed.

I saw this and thought it was wonderful. A little depressing but very positive also. I think it was Cody who asked his teacher what grade he was in. I did have have to walk away a bit then. Not sure why that bothered me so much.

This shows just because you are down does not mean you are out.

Am not familiar the Farmer's Wife--will do a search now.

I watched this and loved it so much. I admit I went in with pre-conceived notions and was pleasently suprised to see each one shattered. I felt I learned alot - about the world and about my view of the world (I am quite sheltered, never traveled, so every idea I have about other states comes from books, movies, ect).
I felt bad for Chris at the end, it seems like he don't have the drive to push himself. His mother really did him wrong a few times (in my opinion) but he just kind of gave up on himself so many times . . . So sad to see potential wasted.
