Homesteading books/magazines?
Looking for some good homesteading, simple living, or Amish reads. I thought we could start a thread.
Has anyone read "Encyclopedia of Country Living" by Carla Emery?
Here's a site that lists some good magazines too.

Don't forget "Backwoods Home" magazine. The politics are very Libertarian or very conservative, but if you can get past that, there is tons of good info about back to the land living.
Ijust noticed it's on the list you mentioned, but I still love it!

I must admit I don't know anything about homesteading. Our family is now living a more frugal lifestyle in order to improve our financial life and save up for a new home in a year or so. Where did you learn about it and what can you tell me about it?

I learned about homesteading as I was learning about frugality, simple living, and downshifting. I can't say I want to necessarily live off the grid, but there are many aspects of homesteading that I am very interested in. I suppose the interest for me with homesteading is the self reliance part of it.Originally posted by Jenlee
