West Nile

I don't know how anyone else feels, but we live in an area buried in mosquitos. They are sprayed regularly, but the above quote sure doesn't make me feel the risk is "very very minimal".The risk is very, very minimal. If you are in an area where the mosquitoes have tested positive, there is only a one in 1,000 chance that (any one) mosquito is positive and if the mosquito is positive, a one in 300 chance that you would be infected.
I can't say I live in fear over it, but I do feel I have a heightened awareness in my area. How about where you live?

We have mosquitos here too and I'm concerned but not fritzed over it. We try to burn our torches with citronella when we're out doors at night. But I'm not toooooo worried.

We go camping every other weekend and really dont worry about it. We use bug spray and citronella candles. Of course the campground is almost empty due to fear. but that makes it real quiet for us.

We're righ in the heart of it, New York City. This is where the west nile outbreak began 3 years ago. I'll be honest, I did worry at first. In this day and age though, I think we have more important things to worry about

We too live in an area where mosquitoes rule the roost in the summer time I'm afraid. But we've decided to take precautions but not to live in fear.
We make sure our kids are sprayed when they go outside, they aren't outside during the evening hours when the mosquitoes are bad and we have no standing water that isn't covered up.

It was a big threat here in New England last summer, when they were finding alot of dead birds infected with it. I just kept all of us sprayed down with the bug spray just in case. Haven't really heard too much about it this year for this area- but it is scary reading about those people who have died in the mid west from it.
