Books You Loved That Are Out of Print

Are there any books you loved as a child that are now out of print?

I LOVED the book "Old Black Witch" by Wende Devlin when I was a little girl. I could have read it again and again and again and again. I loved how she cracked her knuckles and walked around the tearoom. Ooh, I just loved it!

I think Julia would have absolutely loved that book also, but it's out of print. I've seen it on eBay, but I'm never sure if the condition is as they say it is, and my dh and I also disagree on buying from eBay, so for now I'll just hope that some day they decide to reprint it.

Any books that you loved that are no more?

My first grade teacher used to read us Blackie stories when we were good. lol. Its about the misadventures of a little mouse. I've never been able to find the book. It would probably be as old as 60 years old. I would like to have a copy.

When my Dad was in school they had the red reader, the blue reader and the green reader. We had all three at one point, but they're long since gone. Too bad, they were fantastic little books for reading to children. I would've loved to have them just because. :)

When I was a kid I read a book titled "The Black Spaniel (sp?) Mystery". I think that started my love of mystery novels. The author was Betty Cavanna who lived in New Jersey/Philly area.

A friend of Mine is trying to find the book, "Lions Paw" by Robb White to read to her children......A book she remembers....I am trying to get a copy thru my local used book store, (they are great and helpful). Seems like its from the 1970s and is now a collectors item, Yeesh.

julia has Lion's Paw and loves it. It's a little Golden book. Don't know if it's the same.

When I can't find an out of print book here in my own back yard, which has about 9 different used book stores I try Powells. Its an on-line company in Settle, Wa. They not only have blocks and blocks of old books but a great prices and you can post to a waitng to find list and they will email you if they get in a copy of what your looking for.
Checked on Old Black Witch by Wende Devlin and they have 2 copies both Hardback but alittle prciy $35.00. But I would note your looking for one at a lower prices and when they have a clearing sale you may be notified of a lower price.
