The DiVinci Code (Movie)
Has anyone seen it yet? I promised
we'd go see it when it came out, and fortuneately, I had $20 worth of movie money saved for it. So we went to see it last night.
Without giving away anything, I wasn't all that impressed. I haven't read the book yet, but I was rather dissapointed. I think the main reason is the acting by Tom Hanks, whom I normally like very much. But this time, his acting was very stiff and bland, like a blank piece of paper -- the potential is there, and you'd love to see something fantastic but it just didn't happen. I wasn't overly fond of the young woman in it, either. She just seemed like the traditional "lady of the film" kind of thing.
Best acting, I believe, was the character, Silas -- now THAT took a lot of work. He did a fantastic job in that role.

Paul Bettany was Silas. He was in Knight Tale and Master and Commander.

I went to see it last night. I wasn't too impressed, either, but I also hadn't read the book yet so had some trouble following. My daughter has read the book and she said the book was definately better. It seems the books usually are!

I read the book and loved it. But I find that the movies are almost never as good as the book. I think I will hold out until it comes to video to see this one...by the way...if you liked the book, read Angels and Demons also. It is similiar and very, very good

I loved the book, and couldn't put it down. The local radio station was talking about it Friday and said they heard Tom Hanks acting wasn't too good in it, and that the reviews from Cannes weren't that great either. I still want to see it, but most likely will wait on it to come out on DVD. Besides, there are a lot of movies that critics said weren't good and I loved them so just because it got bad reviews won't keep me from seeing it.

I haven't seen the movie yet but I read DaVinci Code and Angels & Demons and when I heard Tom Hanks would be playing the lead, I felt like he was horribly miscast. I could see Harrison Ford, Russel Crowe or even Mel Gibson playing that role but Tom Hanks just felt really wrong for some reason.

We saw it tonight and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked the book more because they left out some stuff that I thought was interesting in the book, but you could see why, because it would have made for MUCH more dialogue and not as much action. An example, for those who have read the book, while they analyzed The Last Supper, they didn't do it as in depth as in the book, and they didn't talk about the painting Madonna of the Rocks at all. There were some other things, as well, but overall, it was a good movie.

I am reading the book right now and will see the movie at some point after I have finished the book. I am really enjoying the book, I read Angels and Demons prior to reading the Da Vinci Code and I think that has helped me to enjoy it much more since is prequel to the Da Vinci code.

I agree on that note. I thought he looked very handsome in the tan colored jacket and jeans.
