I am so ready for september....lol. I missed the last part of the first hour as I was watching American Idol, but since ABC has it where you can view some of there shows online I'll probably watch it later on tonight, or sometime this weekend when I don't have to get up early the next day for work.

That's a head scratcher for sure!
My thoughts:
I hope Desmond's not off the show. I really like him so hopefully he'll still be around next year.
I'm thrilled we've (hopefully) seen the last of Michael (a.k.a HAVE YOU SEEN MY BOY?) and Walt (a.k.a. DAAAAAADD). Not my favorite actors or storyline by any stretch.
That was so sad when Hurley figured out what happened to Libby. Poor Hurley, tracking back across the island alone.
I was a little nervous that my three favorites (Sayid, Jin, & Sun) were confined together on a boat. Nothing better happen to them! And what is up with that four toed statue??!!
I have to say, part of me is disgusted that I even watch this show. Now that I've seen how they ended Alias I do not have high hopes for what will happen to this show, and yet, come September I'll be back to see what happens next.

[QUOTE=Emerald_Mommy] And what is up with that four toed statue??!!
QUOTE]
I like what Sayid said, about not knowing whats worse, the fact that the rest is missing or the fat that there's only 4 toes.
Can't wait to watch it again to pick up on a few things I may have missed while flipping between that and idol.

Can someone give me a quick synopsis of what happened? I missed it yesterday as I was watching American Idol. Thanks!

Okay, let's see...
The episode was rife with Desmond flashbacks. He was in prison and upon his release, was met by a man inside a limo. He gets in and the man presents him with two boxes...his past and his future. Inside one box were hundreds of letters that he had written to his girlfriend during his incarceration. This man was her father and had intercepted all of the letters, because he didn't want them seeing each other. In the other box was, what I am assuming to be thousands of dollars (not American) to stay away from her and never contact her. The next we see him, he's at a coffee shop buying coffee, but he's out of money. Who buys his coffee for him? Libby. They get to talking and he explains how he is in the dumps because he wants to participate in this race around the world, but he has no boat. Libby gets all misty-eyed and explains that her husband just died last year and she has his boat and she wants him to have it. He says thank you and that he'll use it to win the race "for love."
In the next flashback, Desmond is on the boat in the middle of a terrible storm. He packs his belongings in a plastic baggie, places it in his coat, and goes back on deck. He is washed ashore, and in the brink between consciousness and unconsciousness, sees a man in a yellow biohazard suit coming to get him. The man drags him off the beach, and he wakes up in the hatch. When he wakes up, the man says, "Are you him?" "What did one snowman say to the other snowman?" Apparently, this was the genius password phrase that the next person who was supposed to relieve Kelvin was supposed to say. It unfolds that this guy is the current button pusher and has been waiting for his replacement. (This man is also the army guy who got Sayid to work for the US...remember him?)
They live together for 3 years, and one day when the man is going out in his biohazard suit, Desmond notices a rip in the suit and follows the guy. Once outside, the guy takes off the suit, showing that he knows there really is no danger out there. Desmond follows him to a part of the island I've never seen, and I don't remember why, but they get in a fist fight, and Desmond accidentally kills the guy when he slams him back against a rock. Desmond realizes how long he's been gone and rips a key from the man's neck and starts running for the hatch. When he gets there, the clock has already run out and there is this huge whirring, mechanical, magnetic sound going on, and all metal things are flying toward the walls. He keeps entering the code over and over, and finally, it takes and everything calms down. End of Desmond story.

Now, Locke and Desmond get to talking on the beach. Desmond says to Locke "What did one snowman say to the other one?" Locke responds, "Smells like carrots." (I fell asleep in a few episodes, so I'm assuming that Desmond already told them that this was the password quote.) They get to talking and Locke tells Desmond about the other hatch that he and Eko found where there were the video cameras watching their hatch. Desmond is so upset to realize that it was all an experiment, but then he thinks that maybe it's the other way around. Maybe the people in the observation room were really the ones being experimented on.
Anyway, Locke convinces Desmond to go with him to the hatch. They go to the hatch and Desmond does something with the wires and they push Eko out of the computer room and he gets locked out. So, Locke and Desmond are going to see what happens if you don't push the button. Eko tries to use the explosives from the black ship to blast the door open. No luck. While in the computer room, Desmond sees the paper from the computer in the observation hatch, and starts reading the numbers and says in a panic-stricken voice "When did you crash here?" Locke says, "September 22nd." Desmond sees on the paper that on September 22, the computer went into system failure, and realizes that it is the day that he killed the other man and almost was too late to push the button. He says, "I think I crashed your plane." So, anyway, the countdown continues, and everything on the clock goes to hieroglyphics and Desmond starts yelling at Locke to enter the numbers, and Locke picks up the computer and smashes it to the floor. Desmond plays with the wires again and opens the blast doors and runs to the living room and pulls out a book of his (earlier in the episode, he says that this book is the last book he'll ever read before he dies) and opens it up and pulls out the key he pulled from the neck of Kelvin. He goes to a hole in the floor and tells Locke that he's going to save them.
Suddenly, all the metallic stuff starts flying toward the walls, and even the countdown clock crushes from the magnetism. Eko stands in the doorway of the computer room, looking at Locke. Locke says, simply, "I was wrong." The noise grows and grows and grows and we see Desmond crawling toward a keyhole in the ground which is labeled "System Shutdown" and then they pan to the rest of the island where everyone is covering their ears and then there is a blinding white/violet light in the sky and then it's all over and back to normal. End of that story.

Sayid and Jack come up with a plan for Sayid to take Desmond's ship around to the other part of the island, scout out the camp of the Other's and then wait to ambush them when they show up with Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley (heretofore referred to as JKSH). Jin can sail, so Sayid asks Sun to ask Jin to sail him there, as Sayid cannot sail, and she says sure, however, she insists upon coming. As they are sailing around the island, they see an enormous statue of a foot with four toes. Sayid says, "I don't know which is more disturbing...that the rest of it is missing or that it only has four toes." (It was made with four toes...one was not broken off.) Sayid goes ashore and investigates the camp and finds that the hatch that Michael saw being guarded last week is fake...it's not really a hatch.
JKSH and Michael are going through the forest toward the other side of the island when Kate notices they are being followed and she and Sawyer start shooting at the Others who are following them. They kill one. Kate freaks out that they have to find the one who got away so he doesn't warn the Other's that they are coming. Jack yells, "They already know...don't they, Michael?" So, he makes Michael spill the beans. Then, Hurley says, quietly, "Did you kill them? Ana Lucia and Libby?" Michael admits he did and Hurley looks devastated. They press on.
They are in a clearing and Sawyer gets taken down with a dart that, presumably, is full of something to knock you out. Then, Kate goes down and Jack picks her up and starts running with her, until he goes down as well. You don't see Hurley go down, but it's a given.
Next thing you know, the Other's have JKSH on a dock with Michael, and the boat that they used to abduct Walt pulls up. Off of the boat comes "Henry Gale" who is the obvious leader of the Other's. He scolds Zeke for taking off his beard, but Zeke explains that Kate just told him that they already knew it was fake. He turns to Michael and says "You held up your end of the bargain, now I'll hold up mine. Take the boat and go in direction 325 and you'll be free. Once you are gone, you can never come back." Michael asks if he's not scared they'll tell people what happened and where they are, and Henry Gale says "They'll never find us, and besides, if you tell, you'll have to tell what you did to get your son back." Michael gets on the boat where Walt is and off they go.
This is when the bright purple light comes in the sky and when it's over, the Other's don't even seem fazed. They send Hurley back to camp to tell everyone to stay away from this side of the island. Right before they are about to put hoods over the heads of JKS, Jack and Kate share a look like they have some sort of plan or something, and Sawyer looks confused. Then, the hoods go on.My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

And finally, in some sort of Arctic tracking station, there are two men who are playing cards or something and one of them notices a red button flashing on their computer, and it says Electromagnetic Anomaly Found. They freak out that they've almost missed it "again" and make a phone call. The person who answers the phone is Penny, the woman that Desmond was writing to in Jail. (Sorry...she found him while he was training for the race and they talked. He asked, "How did you find me?" She replied, "With enough money, you can find anyone, anywhere." Anyway, the scientist says, "I think we've found him." And THAT was the end of the show. Phewf!

My dd read on one of the message boards that the same actor who plays Jack also played one of the men in the artic station. BTW, I thought the men were speaking Russian but they were actually speaking Portugeese.

I wouldn't trust Michael as far as I could throw him. Maybe he will redeem himself or then again myself he'll be like he always is and just be conerned about his own needs.
