Interesting. I know some people on a homesteading board I visit have been using their dashboards to make baked potatoes in this awful heat.

As long as it's safe, why not? I know people who have warmed canned food on their engines while traveling down the highway.

Actually a lot of people use the dashboard of their car to sun-dry vegetables (such as tomatoes) from their garden for storage. When you think about it, your car is just a big (and most importantly FREE) solar dehydrator. The trick is to leave the windows slightly open though so that you get a through-breeze otherwise you can have fungal problems starting with your tomatoes.

thats funny, beacuse u can do the same to eggs in a metal dish on the road but i wouldnt eat them. lol
