Big Brother Live Feed Question

I keep reading Live Feed boards, and they say that everytime someone starts singing, they go to the Fire wall. Why do they cut out when people are singing?

I think it has to do with copyrighting and recording royalties. It is my understanding that everytime a song that is "owned" for lack of a better term, is played in any kind of public media that they owner is supposed to be paid a royalty. I think that BB and CBS are just trying to protect themselves.

I think it started after Will started singing "I Will Survive" on the live show during his first season. CBS had to pay out $250,000. They also cut to flames every time one of houseguests is telling a story and mentions the name of a person who hasn't signed a release. Like if I'm telling a story about my friend "Bob" and Bob hasn't signed a release, they cut to flames.

Also if they mention a specific business or product we get flames. Boogie and Will are constantly mentioning the names of the restaurants they own and it goes to flames all the time this year. I think they do it on purpose half the time because they know it drives the live feed watchers crazy.

On previous seasons, it cut to a fish tank in the house. This year all we get are flames and the Big Brother theme song.
