I would take the entire $1000 and give it to the local Children's Aid Society for Christmas gifts for the children that are there at Christmas. They often do not get anything for Christmas and to be able to add some cheer for them on Christmas would be a joy for me.

I would give it to our local women's shelter. It's a shelter for abused women and their children. They help get them back in the work force and start life anew.

With half, I would buy things for the residents at the nursing home where I work.
I'd donate the other half to my favorite charity: ChemoAngels.

~See, this just ticks me off. I just don't think money is the answer. You may make someone smile or be grateful, but that's not happiness. Time with someone is what is appreciated, being remembered and loved. Personally, I'd be more grateful to the person who held my hand for an hour as I cried then the person(or company in this case) that gave me $1000.I'd always think that person was trying to buy my attention, respect or love.A true gift is the gift of yourself.~
