Default How to remove engraving from leather book?

Ok, this is probably an odd question, but...

I got 2 Bibles as gifts from different people. They're both engraved with my name. And they both are the EXACT same translation. We live in a very tiny space and I can't see keeping two of the exact same book (translation in this case).

Does anyone know how to remove the engraving from one of them? Without causing any damage?

    Thanks!

Hmm, I'm not sure. But I did have a thought - you (or someone else) could always cover the engraving with a metal plate engraved with a different name.

Yes, this is what our local Bible Book store does, just cover the name with an engraved name plate. This doesn't help you if you wanted to return the book, but you could regift it with the new name plate on it. Or try to sell it on E-bay, stating, of course, that the name is on it, but can be covered up.

    Just a thought.

BTW, if you don't mind my asking, what is the translation?

Was hoping to sell or trade it at the used book store or eBay.

Good idea on the metal nameplate...I wouldn't have thought about that!

    Translation is NLT by Tyndale.
