I just recently went to see the musical Wicked. It is about what happened before Dorothy landed in Oz. My DD (16) wanted to see it so I got two tickets for Christmas. I was really not to thrilled about going. I have heard the music for over a year that my DD played over and over. I now am playing it over and over. It was such a good musical. It was great. I would suggest it to anyone who likes musicals. It was pricey as it sold out quick and I had to get the tickets online but I would go again in a heart beat. It was wonderful.
I have the book but have never gotten around to reading it. Reminds me of "Practical Magic" -- the book was the second worst book I'd ever read (don't even get me started on why, none of us have enough time ) but the movie was pretty good, overall.
My DD LOVES that musical, she's always watching scenes from it on YouTube. Thanks for the review, it's definitely something we'll have to keep an eye out for, hopefully it'll go on tour and travel to our area soon.
My daughter also read the book and said it wasn't very good and it was very dark. The musical however is very uplifting. We stood out in the cold for 45 minutes after to meet the witches and it was about 15 degrees that night. They were so gracious and took pictures with my daughter. It was a nice bonding experience for her and I as we don't often have time just one on one.
Thanks for the review. As a Christmas present I bought tickets for each of my sisters and their daughters. We're gonna make a mother, daughter, sister day of it. But not til March! Like you said the tickets are pricy (I bought matinee tickets) and sold out quick. Our show is no sold out.
WHAT AN EXPERENICE!!!! WOW! We had a blast. Made a mother, daughter sister day of it. Yesterday morning DD and I drove to St. Pete and picked up sister #1 and her daughter, then drove to Clearwater and picked up sister #2 and her daughter. Then drove over to Tampa and had had a nice lunch and saw the matinee performance. I was in tears by the end and so were my sisters. Been humming "No One Mourns the Wicked" all day. It was definatly a chick program 95% of the 1000 folks there yesterday were females.
