    Very interesting. I've been putting my sponges in the dishwasher. I'll definitely start microwaving them now. Thanks for the info!

    I just read an article on CNN.com (Health section) reminding people to make sure the sponges are thoroughly wet. Apparently, some people have already started fires in their microwave trying this... They also mentioned make sure there is no metal in the sponges.

    I throw mine in the washer with the dish towels after every use. I never use a dish towel or cloth more then once. I can reuse my 12 of scrubbies(the colored ones from dollar store ) many, many times. And are always ready and sterile for every use. just my two .
