The Secret
Is anyone reading The Secret? I saw Oprah's 2 shows on the book. It is very interesting even though I am not done reading it. I try to read a chapter a day so I can really absorb it to the max. Even if the theory doesn't work it will still make you have a happy life and a good outlook.

I am reading The Secret too, and I saw both Oprah shows too. I am almost done with the book, but I am going to reread it slower so I can make sure I understand it enough to put it into practice in my own life. It seems like such an easy idea, but I have been "trying" to put the ideas into practice in my own life and it's really hard to not fall back into my negative thinking. It's like having to rework the way I think and feel about things. Let me know if you are having an easier time with it, maybe there is somthing I should be doing differently. I might check out what the Oprah site has to say about it too.

I've been hearing a lot about this, but I have no idea what it's all about. Does it have anything to do with this? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2MqciSMOmk"]YouTube- The Secret Riches Visualization Tool[/ame] Is it a book and a movie?

Amy: Yeah, that's it. It's a movie & a book. Instead of a movie, it reminds me more of a documentary. A self-help & how-to in the form of a film, people talking directly to you.
Marie: That's the main point, changing the way you're thinking & feeling. It is hard because most of us are SO negative. I know I was for many years. Even once I changed my thinking from negative to positive, I still had moments of negativity. I just had 3 moments of negativity & I haven't even been at work for an hour yet.
Monner: It does work. I have had this Law of Attraction work for me, sometimes without even realizing what I was doing. Now that I know what I've been manifesting, it's time to change completely & it's for my good & the good of those around me. I've had some phenomenal things happen to me but I didn't realize that it was because of my thinking & feelings.

I just cought part of the show the other day. I've been living my life with many of these attitudes for years now. It's really all about choice and the way you look at & react to whatever comes into your life. Your attitude really does mean bunches. Negative breeds negative and positive leaves the door wide open for who knows what. Live well~ Laugh Often~ Love much.

Hi Marie 78. I know what you mean about falling back into negative thinking. It is a bad habit and hard to break but if a wonderful future is ahead for us I am going to try my hardest. I am not a persistent negative thinker but once in awhile I can get a few things stuck in this hard head of mine and it takes a fight to get better thoughts in my head. You know when I think back to real great times I can definitley remember having a real good outlook on things. I truly think there is a connection. I do have one person that I have to work on forgiveness for and that will be hard since she is a family member. She treats me snotty unless someone is there and she doesn't want them to see that side of her. She has everything money and house can buy which I don't except I have a loving husband and I think most of it is jealousy. So, I will rack it up to envy and forgive her and go on with The Secret and see what it does for me. Sorry this got so long but I truly feel as though this book is a must read for everyone. Thanks for listening to me.

Monner: When I was starting on my quest for more positiveness (raised in a real negative household), I read somewhere that when you have negative thoughts or you say something negative to cancel it out. In your mind or out loud. So I was saying it all the time, "Cancel, cancel" And it was amazing to me how often I was saying it which means the negativeness that was coming from me was huge. Also, my negativeness was affecting my 2 year old. Watching her sit around depressed was heartbreaking for me & a real eye opener. That was when I decided to change who I was because I knew I had to change who she was. She turned 24 years old yesterday & she still has room to grow but as positives and confidence that I never had in my early 20s.

I saw the Oprah shows and have researched a little bit online... I get it but I don't. I understand the point of positivity and attitude, but they lose me and my eyes glaze over when they talk about "asking the universe" and the other "new-agey" type things. I just don't get it.

I saw both of her shows on "The Secret" too and was really impressed! I am debating on whether to order the book or not. I think alot of it is common sense on your way of thinking, it is just to find the steps to help you get there.
Even yesterday on Oprah when they did the show on small spaces Oprah mentioned about her show "The Secret". The lady who lived in a 250 sq.ft flat was so thankful and happy to be living there and Oprah mentioned that is what drew Nate and the Producers etc... to her, her positive outlook and ways helped make the decission to redo her home.
The first show Oprah was so impressed after reading the book she bought 30 something books, I think it was 36 but I am not sure.
They also mentioned in the first show for "The Secret" that if you have the dvd it would be great to sit down and watch it with your children as well.
I know that when I have positive thinking that good things tend to come my way. I also remember when dh and I were having it hard financially I kept thinking that I know things will get better and I "want" to be financially secure, now I am thinking we "will" be fiancially secure.
The first show also said to only ask once for what you want....I can't remember how they said it but something like "ask once, believe, and receive" They said that if you ask twice that this would mean that you don't believe. Also to reword you phrasing, instead of saying,"I don't want to be fat" say "I want to eat more healthy"
Has anyone here seen the dvd? If so what did you think about it? For those reading the book are you even more insprired? Is it a "can't put it down" type of book? Or do you have to keep going over certain areas?Starting Totally Over. Working on the Dave Ramsey Baby Steps!

I have the DVD & have watched it every night. I got it on the 12th of Feb. I love it & am ready to get the book, just not to make a special trip to the bookstore tho. But I'll probably hit a bookstore by week's end. I would be interested in any product they put out as long as it is as good quality & informative as what I've seen so far.

I want to watch the dvd next. I finished reading the book, but I need to read it again before I hand it over to my mom to read. I think I need to reread it because there is a lot to absorb. I read through it in 1 1/2 days because it was so good. I am currently forcing myself to have positive thoughts when I start to think of something negative. I hope that positive thinking will eventually just be a way of life, instead of forcing it.
Debora: You said something that hit home for me. My mom is a very positive person now, but for several years of my life she was a very negative force and my dad has always been a negative person. I wonder if a negative outlook on life can be learned? I am trying to unlearn it, I never realized how ingrained the negativity is in my life. It seems to be always under the surface. I am actually thankful that I figured this out now, I don't want to pass that on to my future children. I want to be a glass half full person, not half empty!

Chisgran, Where did you find the DVD? I have looked all over the place and haven't found it so far. I haven't read the whole book yet since I read a chapter a day out loud to my husband because that is the only way he will read the book, if I do the reading. I think the DVD would be good reinforcement. I am going to reread the book by myself when I finish it the first time. I can't wait to see what happens with this whole thing. I think it takes practice, practice, practice. Good luck to everyone trying this. We will need to report in ever so often.

Ok, this is going to be long because I have so many thoughts running in my head so please be patient with me. Thanks.
Marie: Watching the DVD really does drive it home for me. I mean, I know without a doubt that these principles work but the format that they present it in is good.
Marie: I was always told to "fake it until you make it". This worked well for me, too, when I went to school to learn to do nails. They tell you to act as if you can do great nails, until you can. It is so hard to pull away from negative upbringing but it's extremely important to leave it behind. I was watching someone on t.v. (probably a minister) & he was talking about God loving us. Of course, we've all heard that many times before but then he said, "Who are you not to love yourself when Jesus gave His life for you?" How many of us would give our lives for our children or for a family member? This also started changing the way I looked at myself, my life and those around me. People do wonder why I'm so happy most days, they just expect me now to be in a super good mood. People also are drawn to you. I worked with a bunch of guys & sometimes that's tough because they want to come over & talk or just hang out. My daughter also said to me, "Why are people always talking to you?" She means like in the grocery, in the line at Walmart. They just look at me & sometimes by the time one of us leaves the line, I know personal things about them. Now that use to freak me out but now I just tell my daughter, "Sometimes people just need someone to talk to." Or I feel that that person is there to deliver a message to me personally. You'll notice a difference when you let that light shine. You'll just glow. Kinda like when my grandkids see me. The 4 yr. old gets out of the car & yells my name until he gets to me & I grab him a a big bear hug & give him a big kiss. And even the 10 month old, once he sees that it's me gets the biggest smile you've ever seen. Try to think of times like that & then decide what it is you want to work on. That's the best time to create what you want & bring it to you, when you have strong love feelings in your heart. And yes, I believe negativity is a learned behavoir just like hatred & prejudices.
Monner: I found my DVD on Amazon when the first show was aired. I couldn't get on the Secret website so I went another route because I really wanted it. I think us getting together is a good idea, too. Let's think this out, ok? This is so exciting.
