    Question Mystery Authors?

I don't read mysteries, but I'd like to pick up a few good ones for my chemo angel patient. Any recommendations?

I like J.D. Robb. Her Death Series has been really good. But you need to start with the first book because there ar several story lines running and its the easiest way to follow whats going on.
Also Tamera Myers writes 2 different series that are really good. One is about an Amish Inn Keeper and the other is about a Charleston Antique collector.
J.A Jannis(sp) writes a good series about the widow of a Texas Sheriff.

Oh yes this is my favorite type of book to read:

Anne Perry, (Thomas Pitt series, try to start at the beginning, 21 books in the series, these are easy to find at the used book store, time frame is 1860s england in the beginning).

Tony Hillerman, (Jim Chee series, about a navajo policeman on the Reservation in AZ and NM area).

    Randy Wayne White

    Daniel Silva

There are more but this will get you started : )

I was going to recommend her also. They have recipes in them and I've tried a couple and they are really good! They are a nice light mystery.

These are all cozy (not much gore) mystery series:

Nancy Atherton writes about a young mother who has a ghost help her think things through via a journal

Joanne Fluke - cookie shop owner solves mysteries - has recipes in every book

Elizabeth Peters - also writes under the name Barbara Michaels - the Vicky Bliss series is about a young American woman living in Germany and working for a museum who solves mysteries regarding art theft, forgery, etc. - the Amelia Peabody series is about English archaeologists working in Egypt around the turn of the century

There are so many wonderful mysteries. If you do an Amazon search on your friend's interests plus mystery you're certain to find something good. There are crafting mysteries, many involving cooking, historical settings, etc.

Janet Evanovich, her Stephanie Plum series is wildly popular and I absolutely adore Nevada Barr, her books are about a female park ranger and take place in different national parks throughout the nation, they are full of mystery and adventure, I highly recommend her.
