Default September's Book Club Read: A Thousand Splendid Suns

By a very narrow margin, our book read of September will be Khaled Hosseini's "A Thousand Splendid Suns".

Here is the Amazon link so you can get an idea of what the book is about:

If you will be reading along with me (I already have the book and will be starting it tonight) please post and let me know!

I'm reading it slow so that those of you who wont' have the book for a week or so can catch right up! The chapters are short, only a few pages in length. I've only read the first 2 chapters, or about 8 pages.

So far I am loving the description of Afghanistan (I won't give out any spoilers, so you can continue reading!) and I am already excited to discuss a couple of the characters with you!

This is more my genre! I loved "The Kite Runner" -- did anyone else read it? It was sad and some parts were shocking, but I love the way Hosseini writes.

I should also mention that my ex husband is from Jordan and we have 2 children together -- so reading about any Arabic country and their culture is even more close to my heart!

I have to say I am loving the main character so far. (It starts with her as a child) and I can just picture her dark hair and big brown eyes!

    Can't wait to discuss this!
