I saw it. I thought Suze was awesome and gave great advice! I could not believe the first couple spent anywhere from $1,000 to $4,000 for their kids' extravagant birthday parties and the mom shopped and shopped constantly, buying tons of expensive clothes, shoes, etc., but the family had no health insurance because they couldn't afford it! The dad had his head in the sand. Wake up and take charge Mr.!! Cut up the credit cards and reign in your wife!

i watched it
I did enjoy the show. I liked the part oprah said about when she was young she would drive by those houses and wonder how nice it must be to live behind those walls and we see that 9 times out of 10. Thier life looks pretty from the outside but very ugly from the inside. If you have wealth, i don't begrudge anyone spending it, but if you dont have it, is sad to see what happens. But i also beleive it is todays business enviroment that allowed us (yep allowed us) to get into this system. I wonder how our world would be today if we lived in the society our grandparents lived in. I dont think it was better but a lot less stressful. Today we all own houses at 24, we all own cars at 16. We have credit cards at 18. I am glad i have credit cards, and i own a car. I dont believe that couple will move to washington. i imagine they will file bankrucpy and start all over again and in 5 years be right back in the same bolt, if the guy stays with his trophey wife. I beleive she will leave and go home to momma once he tightens the money bag.

I don't get it. The woman who's expecting a baby said she looks at her $900 pair of shoes and feels bad that the crib is on layaway, well maybe the baby can sleep in the shoebox. She should feel bad! Who needs all those DVD's that her husband has? What a waste. That money could have been put towards debt or invested! Sure it's not as fun now but it'll make things a lot nicer later when they need to put their kids through collage or if they want to retire.

That reminds me of the special on one of those newsmagazines I saw the other night. Maybe it was 20/20 or dateline. Anyhow, it was about the housing market and how hard it was to sell a house. The couple featured had bought their home a year ago at the top of the market and were already trying to sell it. It had been on the market for months, in fact. They had also already purchased another home and they said they couldn't afford two mortgages.
I don't want to sound heartless, but... duh?

I feel not a bit of pity for these silly people. It also verifies to me what I have always believed-know your spouse. One partner's reckless, impulsive, sicko spending sprees can bring the family to financial ruin. Along with the enablers.

The 1st lady stated she wanted to continue to be a SAHM. She didn't appear to be "mothering" any of those children. She can spend $400 a month on Starbucks, but her 5 year olds teeth are rotting in her mouth. What kind of mother does that? I really hope she gets counseling ,because she really has some issues.

I went to oprah.com and read all about it.....WOW! i can't believe that anyone would be so irresponsible, it broke my heart for her children that she would put starbucks before health insurance, but what is up with her husband that he didn't pay attention to any of this! that sickens me!

I loved when Suze Orman came up on the stage and looked at the audience and the camera and said "Do not judge this woman because we have all been there at some time". I loved it when she got the dad in a proverbial head lock and told him to accept the blame for his part and not to totally blame his wife.
The wife needs counseling and a recovery group.

Thanks for the info on the show. I went online and read the summary. Suze Orman tried to give them good advice....wonder if they will take it. If nothing else, these stories of other people help keep me grounded and how much I do NOT want to end up like that!
