    Default Pink Floyd: Pulse DVD

I'm a fan of Pink Floyd but not a fanatic. I was at the public library the other day and I saw the remastered live recording of Pulse, Pink Floyd's last performance in 1994 at Earls Court London. I decided to check it out and watch it. That was about two weeks ago and I didn't watch it until last night. :-(

I don't think I've ever heard music that brought me to tears, but Learning to Fly and Comfortably Numb did. I've heard these songs a thousand times and when I heard them on this DVD, I got teary eyed.

I should elaborate and mention I have a nice audio system with tower speakers, which can be cranked up to near live performance decibel levels. Plus I have a Home Theater model 32" TV, which I've used a Home Theater Essentials to tweak to perfect color, hue, contrast, sharpness, and black level. So it looks damn good for a 1996 Tube, unfortunately not as good as a good LCD but still good. I bought it when I was 16, so it has sentimental value.

So I'm sitting on the edge of my bed listening to Comfortably Numb the next to the last song, the show lights are piercing through the defusing smoke in the 50,000+ packed arena, David Gilmour rips into his guitar solo. At that second my heart sank as I realized I missed the greatest concert of all times. I further realize rock music as complex, hypnotic, and emotional as Pink Floyd's will never return. It also sinks in that this concert was 13 years ago and David Gilmour and the rest of the band are all like 60 years old now. Well all that glorious nostalgia was enough to draw tears into my eyes. As the band continued playing, I let the mental pictures float in and out of my head. I suddenly for a short moment truly began to feel Comfortably Numb.

I can appreciate how you feel, hubby was a musician when he was younger and music is still VERY important to him.

I personally can get lost in a great album (showing my age there

I was listening to an interview with Clapton the other day and realized he's 62! Wow, when did we grow up? How did that happen?

And, for the first time in years and years we're going to a concert next weekend and I feel like a kid again, going to see John Mellencamp and I can't WAIT! His music is basically the story of our youth here in my hometown

Sounds like just maybe you should splurge and own a copy of that dvd
