Default How many use Paperback Swap?

I was just curious...how many FV members use www.paperbackswap.com ?

I've been using it for a while now and really love it. It keeps me from impulse buying a lot of books and stock piling them and taking forever to getting around to them.

Could you give me a little more information. I am an avid reader. Have boxes upon boxes of books in my shed - Love Trilogys and series books - have bought quite a few off Ebay and sometimes end up with two of the same title just to get the one I want.

    This sounds interesting

    thanks

    When I signed up I posted 9 books and got 3 credits. 1 credit = 1 book.

All book trades are free. The shipper of the book pays the shipping and in return earns a book credit.

You can make lists for your account.

I have a wish list. When the book becomes available to me it's offered to me. I can accept or decline.

It doesn't cost any money to join so if you don't like it you can always close your account.

Let's see if I've got this straight. You join PBS and list any books you want to give away and/or any books you would like to receive.

For everybook that someone wants from your list, you get a credit. And you can use these credits to get books from someone else's list.

The only cost is to ship to book to the person that wants it? How does their postage work?

    This sounds great.

PBS is excellent. Unlike going to a used bookstore, the trade rate is 1:1. You send out a book, you are able to get a book.

Lets say I have a book that you want. You request it from me, I accept the request and print out a wrapper from PBS. I choose the option to print out two pages, this way I can wrap the book, and not need any additional mailers. Then I bring it to the post office, and pay around 2-3 for shipping.

It arrives at your house, you mark the book as shipped. I then get a credit on my account, that I can turn around and use to request a book I'd like. When I request a book, the person who sends it to me will pay the postage.

Now, you CAN add money to your PBS account, and print postage directly from the website. I just haven't done that yet.

Sounds like a good plan but I get most of my paperbacks I want to read from the library for free. If they don't have it I can get it through the interlibrary loan system. This works unless you want a book that you want to keep and then I think paperback exchange would work.

I love PBS, they have a sister site where you can swap cd's and are in the process of starting a dvd site swap site also. I've traded hundreds of books through the site and love not having to go out and buy new books when I want one.

I am on it also. Although I haven't posted any new books as of late. I need to do that, thanks for the reminder. Oh, and I have gotten many great books thru them.
