I canceled my newspaper subscription to save money, now I read the news online. But I took interest when I read your question, because I collect vintage newspapers from my local area (northern Delaware). It's a cheap collecting hobby, when I find a paper it usually only costs about $5.00. I'm a history buff, and vintage newspapers provide the best insight to life in the past for ordinary folks.
Reading the news online, I enjoy the business sections best. I like to read about the economy. I'm pretty dull
Emily, what part of the paper do you enjoy?
Edited to add: I love sitting down on Thanksgiving night and looking at all the Black Friday sales ads. Sometimes I find a deal worth waking up extra-early for! But again... I also like to read them to gauge the economy.... the sales ads tell us a lot about consumer spending.

For me its The Budget and Amish/Mennonite Weekly paper that comes out. I get the international version which has articles from local scribes from around the world.
I like this paper which is the only one we get anymore because its imple style. Its written by folks all over the world about whats happening in their area. I have many friends around the world and keep up with whats happening in their areas by this paper. Its simple things like the weather, whos getting married, who died, who had a baby, whats being planted, harvested, etc. There are also recipes, special notices and mission notes.

Laurie how did you subscribe to the Budget? I have been looking all over to find an address so I can subscribe. I love the Amish since there is a small community living a few miles away from me and I buy their eggs and produce.
Thanks, Monner

I don't subscribe to any papers and most of the news I get is snippets that I catch online, unless there is something I am particularly interested in going on. When I go over to my grandparents' house, I check out the local classified ads (particularly real estate), but that's it!

hi, mikandmari, thanks for sharing. I like the humor or enlightening short stories while I don't prefer long articles.
ok, take this one for example. (I don't know if I put it here will mention the copyright thing.) check it out.
A Little Mouse Story
A mouse looked through a crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife opening a package. What food might it contain?
He was aghast to discover that it was a mouse trap. Retreating to the farmyard the mouse proclaimed the warning: "There is a mouse trap in the house, a mouse trap in the house!"
The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, "Excuse me, Mr. Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it."
The mouse turned to the pig and told him, "There is a mouse trap in the house, a mouse trap in the house!"
"I am so very sorry Mr. Mouse," sympathized the pig, "but there is nothing I can do about it but pray. Be assured that you are in my prayers."
The mouse turned to the cow. She said, "You say, Mr. Mouse. A mouse trap? Like I am in grave danger....NOT!"
So the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer's mouse trap alone. That very night a sound was heard throughout the house, like the sound of a mouse trap catching its prey. The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see that it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught. The snake bit the farmer's wife.
The farmer rushed her to the hospital. She returned home with a fever.
Now everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup's main ingredient.
His wife's sickness continued so that friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock. To feed them, the farmer butchered the pig.
The farmer's wife did not get well and a few days later she passed away. So many people came for her funeral that the farmer had the cow slaughtered, to provide meat for all of them to eat.
So the next time you hear that someone is facing a problem and think that it does not concern you, remember that when the least of us is threatened, we all may be at risk.
We are all one family on this planet Earth!
