    Smile December Reading Goals

Well, I picked up one book for myself during my Black Friday Fun Day.

The Green Book by Elizabeth Rogers & Thomas Kostigen

It's the "Everyday Guide to Saving the Planet One Simple Step at a Time"

so far, it's great, but I've only skimmed through it, I'll read it completely next week. (thus it being on my December list) - I'm considering purchasing a few more to give as gifts!

Also on my reading list for December - Clean House, Clean Planet by Karen Logan - I've seen it mentioned here a few times and I can't wait to read it for myself!

Anyone else have a Dec list? I know it's a hectic time of year to sit and read - which is just more of a reason to allow yourself the downtime.

I have a terrible habit. All year as I visit used books stores, yard sales and flea markets I pick up Christmas Themed books and stash them away in my Christmas drawer. Then when I start to put out my Christmas stuff I pull out the pile and start.
On A Snowy Night By Debbie Macomber
The Children of Green Knowe By Lucy Boston
    Christmas in Plains
    Christmas in the South
    A Very Southern Christmas
all By Jimmy Carter (the Pres)
Miracle on I -40 By Curtiss Matlock
A Hickory Ridge Christmas By Dana Corbit
The Christmas Card By William Bowersock
    Patchwork Hoilday A collection
    Sugar And Spice a collection

Reding these always puts me in the holiday mood. Just like listening to old Christmas records and watching old Christms movies.

A friend of mine loaned me Ricochet by Sandra Brown so I will start it as soon as I finish Garden of Lies by Eileen Goudge. I am not sure what I will put on top of Mount To Be Read after the Sandra Brown book.

I am a compulsive reader. I basically eat books.

Went to the library today and here is my haul and yes I will read them in two weeks, if not less -

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
Web of Evil by J.A. Jance
A Deeper Sleep by Dana Stabenow
The Secret Lives of the Kudzu Sisters by Cathy Holt
    Surrender by Sony Hartnett
Paint it Black by Janet Fitch
To Die Well by Sidney H. Wanzer
    Indigo Children by Lee Carrol
    Skin by Ted Dekker
One Good Turn by Kate Atkinson

I will report back and let you know which ones are worth reading.

Laurie - I think that is a great habit. I'm amazed at your self-control. I'd be reading Christmas books in July if I tried to buy them throughout the year.

I just finished "Saturnalia" by Lindsey Davis. A very interesting book, a mystery set in the Roman Empire (I love historical mysteries). I recommend this book for light, fluffy reading

I'm finishing up "The Ladies of Seneca Falls" about the history of the suffrage movement. Also very interesting to see how far we've come towards equal rights for women & the struggles these women had to fight against. Definitely not light & fluffy, but a very good non-fiction history book.

Next on deck: Falling Leaves, the true story of an unwanted chinese daughter" and whatever else I snag at the library tomorrow.

Ok since my NOV reading didnt go as planned I have pushed my Nov book into DEC - True Believer by Nicholas Sparks.

Also, I think there will be time for 2 books as I am feeling ambitious. I noticed earlier today when I was rearranging my bedroom for my new to me tv that I had too many unread books that were on my shelf. There was this one called PS I LOVE YOU. Lil did I know I had it but there's the moving coming out on Christmas Day based on the book - Hiliary Swank and Harry Connick Jr are in it as well as a few other names I think. I was totally blown away that I had it b/c I had just seen the movie preview last night!

Here's to hoping for a overly snow, super cold Dec so all I want to do is go to work, come home and be frugal! Hehehe gotta meet my New Years goal too!
