Harry Potter fans?
I know I'm behind the times, but I am just now getting around to reading the Harry Potter books. I am probably 30 pages from finishing the first one. I love it and can't wait to keep on reading them.
Just wondering if there are any Harry Potter fans here

ME ME ME ME ME!!!!

I have all the books (even bought a second-hand copy of book 1 for DD for next Christmas so we can read them together)
I have the audio books and the neighbors can hear the story in the warmer months while I am cleaning around the house.
We have the movies - to date - but they pale compared to the books!
Last summer I had a 'book camp' for the neighborhood kids. I set up DD's play tent on my patio and the kids all climb inside and I read a chapter a day. I may do it this summer, I don't know. Most of the kids have turned in to lil monsters and I dont see them sitting quietly anymore
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

I call my oldest son 'the blond Harry Potter', so yes, you can say I am a fan!
I just started reading them about 2.5 or so years ago. My brother read them, then told my mom about them, who started reading them, and I caught the bug.
I have told my oldest (9.5) if she brings up her reading grade this quarter, I will let her start reading the first one.
Dh actually watched one of the movies with me over the weekend and he enjoyed it, although not specifically a H.P. fan.
I was so sad to read the last book

yes i think i will be bummed when i get to the last book too. but fortunately that will be a little ways off right now.
i think that is neat reading to the neighbor kids.....i always get excited to see little kids reading. i was a bookworm from the minute i could read and think it helped me a lot when i was in school and now later in life---the library is such a treat.
i'd say i will start picking up the books when i see them cheap--ive still got all the hobbit books (read when i was 12)

I got hooked on Harry a few years ago when my DS was about 12 and was reading the books. I absolutely love the characters. Several of my co-workers (we are teachers) are big fans too, so we have been known to have long Harry conversations, especially when each new book has been published.

Did you all read when JK Rowling revealed that
Dumbledore was gay (not that I care about his preference)?
When they were filming Deathly Hallows I guess the
director want to include a love interest for Dumbledore
(not exactly sure) and JK pulled the director aside and
informed him." May we never let the things we can’t have or don’t have or shouldn’t have spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness, let us not forget it. Yes, love HP. At least the books. I've not liked any of the movies after the first. They have to leave out so much of the subtlety and humor. But the books are wonderful. My favorites are still the first, just because it is so delicious to watch JKR creating the new world, and the fourth. I almost wish I had not read them yet so I would still have all the pleasure of discovery still before me.

A lot of people were saying she made that up after the fact for publicity otherwise it would've been in the books...my response to that has always been that we never knew anything about any of the teacher's love lives unless it was in direct relation to the story (Hagrid & Maxime, Lupin & Tonks, and Snape being in love with Lily). All of those relationships directly impacted the plotline of the books. Mentioning it just to mention it would have been incongrous.
I know that doesn't really have much to do with this but it bothered me a bunch when teh news came out and all these people who hadn't read the books were like...SHE JUST MADE THAT UP BLAHBLAHBLAH.
Also, because it's sooooo appropriate...
