Good mystery novel ideas?
So far Im starting to get into the mystery novels.I picked up off the shelf Jayne castle-ghost hunter--loved it. Also like Anne frasier.
I like anything that takes no more then 3 days to read and keeps u on the end of your seat .
I want something that makes me really wonder who did it.hmmmm
Any ideas i would appreciate it.

I like Patricia Cornwell. I read fast, so I am not sure they will take you 3 days, but they are great. The main character is Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a coroner for the FBI.
You can read them in any order, but I suggest you start at the beginning because you will lose a little if you go out of order...
Not all the Patricia Cornwell books have Kay Scarpetta (I don't really like the ones without her, I think she is the best... a woman, a woman in authority, a woman in authority who has to deal with everyday life, a love life, a lack of a love life, and a psycho is tries to kill HER)
Kay Scarpetta series
- Postmortem (1990)
- Body of Evidence (1991)
- All That Remains (1992)
- Cruel and Unusual (1993)
- The Body Farm (1994)
- From Potter's Field (1995)
- Cause of Death (1996)
- Unnatural Exposure (1997)
- Point of Origin (1998)
- Black Notice (1999)
- The Last Precinct (2000)
- Blow Fly (2003)
- Trace (2004)
- Predator (2005)
- Book of the Dead (2007)
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Patrica Cornwell's Scarpetta novels. I've also read her "Isle of Dogs" didn't like it. It was too corny. And her Jack the Ripper book. That was good too, but not really a mystery or a novel.
Another mystery series I like are by Joanne Fluke. They have cute names like the Candy Cane Murder and the Chocolate Chip Murder. They also have recipes in them
You can find them here:

I, too, would recommend the Janet Evanovich "Plum" series - there are hilarious.
I've recently read several from Earlene Fowler and am looking for more. She has a series "Bennie Harper" and each book also has a quilt pattern.

Nancy Atherton (Aunt Dimity series)
Carolyn G. Hart (Death on Demand & Henrie O. series)
Dorothy Cannell (Ellie Haskell series)
If you like cozy mysteries, give these authors a try.

I recently discovered Ruth Rendell - not the detective series but the single novels like A judgement in stone or The Water's Darling. She's amazing!! Very psychological rather than action-oriented.
And Donald E. Westlake - he tells about real society but kinda extreme plots like in The Ax and The Hook. They're real pageturners!
