8 teens arrested in beating of one girl
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/...n4000740.shtml
parts of the video are out there and it will be hard to get out of your mind.
This is horrible...I don't know how to put my feelings into words....
The blame needs to be on the teens that did this. I know the father is upset (who wouldn't be) but I don't think blame lies with web sites like you tube & my space. Parents, monitor your children & teens web use.
Parent your children, please, for the sake of your children & mine. For all of us.~*Darlene*~

The kids are being charged with things like kidnapping, which is not a light charge.
I told my dh last night that if one of our kids did something like this, that jail would be a cakewalk compared to what we would do to them.
However, you have parents defending their little 'darlings' and saying that the victim deserved it. Even if she did say something online that was less than nice, six against one ain't exactly fair and she sure didn't deserve a concussion.
I have seen in my lifetime that personal responsibility has gone out the window a lot of times and the perpretators are often the 'victim'--from the 'my parents didn't love me enough' to 'racism made me do it' to 'they dissed me'...not just in criminal matters, but financial and moral decisions as well.
All I know is that if I had done something like this as a teenager, I wouldn't be sitting here typing this today after my parents got done with me, LOL.

I did watch some about this this AM on the Today Show. I think they will have some trouble getting charges to stick on some of the girls, because apparently on 2 physically attacked the girl; 2 boys were "look outs" and the other girls just didn't do anything (like stop the fight, or call for help)

I nearly went thru the tv at the kids. I'd like to see the kids shackled to the parents. I can think of lots of other punishments, but they aren't so nice.

This happened not far from me and it was on our local news. I hate to say it but kids gang up on each other like this a lot more often then we realize. It's awful and I do hope they don't get off lightly.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUISTING AND QUITE FRANKLY TERRIFYING! I don't know how any parent can sit there and justify what these kids have done! I hope that the prosectutor finds a way to bring on the harshest penaltyies possible on these kids. The ones who acted as look out are just as guilty as the ones who delivered the beating!

I watched the new report on the Today show this morning and they interview one of the mothers. My impression was that she was looking for her 15 minutes of fame. I was disgusted by her attitude, especially since her daughter doesn't even live with her. My teenagers are not allowed to go to myspace and the computer is strictly monitered. I would be horrified if my child was involved in something like this and certainly wouldn't be bailling them out of jail.

I heard about this on the radio this morning and it just turns my stomach.
This is something I would never have thought of doing in a million years. My mom was strict and her words always ring in my ears that if I did something illegal no matter what I had better hope the cops get me first because I wouldn't want to see what she did.
Now looking back I highly doubt my mother would have ever physically hurt me but I was suitably too afraid to find out.

As awful as it sounds I believe this, and worse, goes on much more frequently than we realize and the people it happens too just don't come foward like this. I think the myspace piece has made this more visible. Visible is good, it keeps most of us on our toes trying to be pro-active with our children. My hat is off to the victim and the victims' family for letting this be put out there like this. I'm sure they had to get permission to air that with a minor.

That story erks me so bad!!! How can those parents back their kids up...they were totally in the wrong. Just like the old saying "sticks and stones may rbeak my bones but words will never hurt me". Shame on those kids!!!!!

Oh my!!!! I hope these little biotches get tried as adults and get the maximum punishment for these horrendous deeds they did to this girl. They need the maximum punishment to send a message to other teen girls that this is not something you can do.
