Part #1 - Frugal Luxuries
I'm so glad you've all come to discuss Frugal Luxuries. Come on in and have a coffee. Its all ready, just help yourself. Find a chair anywhere and I'll be there in just a sec. I see more are coming so lets give it 15 minutes and then we can start.
Well seeing as no one has started this, I will.
What have you found that you like so far about this book? I love her style of writing. The favorite part of the book for me everytime I read it (and I've read it over and over again) has got to be the quotes she uses. They are awesome and have really made me stop and think.
Her style of writing fascinates me. I don't think I read anyone who writes quite like her. Her second book frugal Holidays is exactly the same style.
Is there anything you've found so far that you haven't enjoyed about the book?

I am loving this book.
I love how she describes the difference between frugal and miserly.
I love how she describes intangibles and how important they are to our lives.
I love the frugal tips she is throwing in here and there.
Her writing style is very different than any I've read. It is taking some getting used to, but I like it. Some things I have to read twice to get it.

I really like her writing style. She makes the subjects interesting, and the way she breaks them up into small easily digestable parts. I can read for ten or fifteen minutes and still understand what she is talking about. I also love the quotes she uses. They really humble me and inspire me as well. Thanks to this wonderful book I now see that my lifestyle is a priviledge and a joy. I no longer look at the huge houses and long for their contents and some other person's life. I just see that it's six in the evening and no one is home. Are they still at work?? Where are their children?? Then I look in the backseat of my old but completely owned car and I see where my children are. With me.

I think the book is fine, but still like The Tightwad Gazette better. Amy's writing style seems like she's right in the room with me, talking over a cup of cocoa.
I agree--I like my five (almost six!) year old, owned in full Intrepid and DH's owned in full Subaru!
