Default Books That "Speak" to You?

I was just looking at a pile of books on my mantle and was thinking about how much I truly loved some of them. How I would have to go back a few pages to re-read paragraphs that were so beautifully written. How I got totally lost in the story and had no idea how they were going to end. I don't mean just books, here...I mean literature that is written like it's an art.

Do you have any books like that? And, again, not to sound snooty, but I don't mean like "I enjoy books by Dean Koontz" (which I do, thoroughly, by the way) but I mean books that really meant something to you.

    My 3 top ones are:

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
    Out Stealing Horses Per Pettersen
The Shadow of the Wind Carlos Ruiz Zafon

Gone With The Wind and The Great Gatsby.

I absolutely lost my self in these other centuries and decades, and I can remember all the little details from when I read them. Not just details about the books, but details about where I was, and what I wore, etc.

For example, I read Gone With The Wind in 3 days and nights, with a flashlight under my quilt at night, dressed in my baby doll PJs. I read it at meals, while in the bathroom, and while riding the bus to school. Literally, I could not put it out of my hand!

I tend to get totally absorbed in books.
    Spiritual:

    Financial:
Debt free, hoping to stay that way!

Gone with the Wind! I can still sit and read and reread that books. Also, there is a fiction series for younger kids call the Dark is Rising and I read and reread that. I fell in love with it as a kid and I still love it to this day.

The Red Tent - Anita Diamant is one for me.
" May we never let the things we can’t have or don’t have or shouldn’t have spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness, let us not forget it. One of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy without the things we cannot or should not have."

Shining Through by Susan Isaacs. I get so lost in the war scenes I forget reality.

Also, The Mark of The Lion Series by Francine Rivers.

I've heard this title mentioned - what's it about - I know I could google it but talking to a person that's actually read it is sooo much better than reading the inside of the book cover!
