    Wasn't that show something?
That first family made me cringe to see how much food was thrown away and all the waste in their lives.
The second family, that little boy giving up his video games was really sad; to think he was so addicted to them and so young! Thankfully, it sounds like his Mom has seen what was happening and is working to mend the situation.
The third woman was interesting too. I liked that she was making so much better choices for herself. I loved the segment with her checking her fridge, making a grocery list and a meal plan. So many people can learn from that simple ecample!

I almost changed the channel after seeing the first family, but am glad I saw family #2, and the single gal.
If family #1 is typical, it is easy to see why we are in such economical trouble. I grew up pretty poor and when I see that kind of waste, it literally makes me ill.

My daughter wants to do a challenge like this. I told her when school gets out next month we will try it and see how well we do.
The no TV for the kids will be very hard and the NO COMPUTER for me will be even harder. I may give myself a 1/2 hour a day to check emails and such.
I plan on not doing any driving unless it is an emergency.
We live about 1.5 miles to the grocery store and about 1 mile to the library and have walked to them before.
I really need to get some projects done around here so this will inspire me to get them done with no computer or tv.

I did see that show and I thought it was a real eye opener. Sad that kids these days "have nothing to do" if they aren't doing something with an electronic gadget. I was horrified to see them throwing away food so they could go grocery shopping and buy more of the same stuff! Also the cooking a different dinner for each person in the family was crazy, not to mention throwing away the leftovers from dinner then too! Aaahh!! I feel like my family is doing a FABULOUS job after seeing those familes! Really though we still have room for improvement.

Ok, I have to laugh at the challenge. I didn't see the show but went to the Oprah site. We already do all the things on their list except we probably watch 2 hours TV night and I use the computer while I nurse the baby. I'm sure most people here at FV are the same. Maybe we need to bring ourselves to Oprah's attention!

That first family was unbelievable. I was also surprised by the amount of waste!
My kids brought home a TV challenge from school. It starts this week. They are challenging the kids to not watch television all week. They bring in a slip each day to say they didn't watch tv and they get a prize. They also get entered into a drawing to have lunch ordered from a restaurant with the principal on Friday.
The kids will be watching no tv. DH and I will be limiting our tv time and computer time. We don't watch much anyways.
I really like the third person on Oprah too and how she checked her fridge before she grocery shopped. I really got into the habit of that from reading posts here. I can tell when I am tired/in a hurry and don't do that before I go to the store. My bill is ALWAYs higher.
