Any NASCAR fans???!!!
Dh and I are huge NASCAR fans.I always look forward to the Talladega races each year.Talladega is less than 30 mins from us,so we get all the fans coming in for the race.
We've even seen some of the drivers in our local Food World buying beer lol,and meats to grill out!
My aunt and uncle try to make alot of the races and have, over the past 3 years or so have gotten to know Jeff Burton and his crew. He's gave her tires, signed pics etc. They camp out at the tracks (in a RV) and party with the Burtons and other people they've met through the races.
I've never been to a race.Mainly because of the kids, but oneday i hope to go
Dh was a DIEHARD Earnhardt fan up until he passed away
Now he pulls for Jr.He also likes Ward Burton,Michael Waltrip,Kevin Warvick, and a few others.
I like JR (he's MY man LOL),then Michael Waltrip.
I don't like Sterling Marlin, even though I'm sorry he's out for the rest of the season hurt. And I can't stand DALE JARRETT!! LOL
My uncle(diff than the one above) is a diehard Dale Jarrett fan and we go round and round about him all the time!! All in good clean fun of course
Anyways....Anyone else a NASCAR Fan? Who's your fav driver? etc....
Hope Sunday's race doesn't get rained out...or called !!

Yes!
I never realized that driving around in circles could be so fun! My son is a Nascar fanatic. He is a fan of Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Jr's, Rusty Wallace. Sorry i like Jarrett! Guess it is the commercials.
I have never been to the big races although i have gone to the lower class Nascar races. SOMEDAY, I am going to California Speedway! That is sooo cool that you have seen the drivers shopping. I would love to meet some of them. And how cool that your Aunt and Uncle are hanging out with Jeff Burton!
I cannot remember any other names right now, I am tired. I may add some more in the morning.

Diehard fans here too! I like Tony Stewart, DH-Jeff Gordon, DD1-Bobby Labonte, DD2 likes Jr. BIL likes Sterling Marlin (the Dodge factor), so we go around with him about that. Dover Speedway is about 1 hour from us, but we've never been there. I'm putting that on my list of things to do for next year. Sunday is raceday in our house. I have stickers for everyone but Jeff Gordon on my minivan. I get newsletters from Nascar.com, and check the site regularly. I'm addicted!

Dh came home (we were living in a hotel room with dd 2 at the time) and said, "We have to go to the Charlotte NASCAR race Saturday night with my boss". My response, "OH, NO we don't!!". Anyway, that was my first taste of NASCAR.
Picture it: Charlotte, mid-May, Saturday night, passes to the hospitality village (they feed us, give you drink, then pack a cooler with your fave beverages - soft drinks for me, beer for dh) Start/finish line row 36 tickets for the: WINSTON ALL-STAR race
I'm telling you when they said, "Gentlemen, start your engines" I was hooked. That was 5 years ago and I haven't missed a race on TV since!! We have been to Charlotte, Darlington a few times and Talladega a few times, including the spring race this year.
Dh was a diehard Dale Earnhardt fan until his death and he's a Jr. fan now. I am a diehard Ward Burton fan and so happy he has made a change on his race team. I think Tommy Baldwin was probably a wonderful chief, but something was missing. Maybe Frankie Stoddard can turn it around. 2 wins and he's in 28th place? Well, 8 DNF's can do that to you.
We watch qualifying on TV when we can get it and we try to catch NASCAR tonight and RPM tonight when we can.
Drivers we don't like: Sterling "Killer" Marlin, Dale Jarrett, Bobby Hamilton. Mostly because they wrecked our drivers at one point or another.
If you have a chance to see a race in person, JUMP at it. It is out of this world excitement!!!!

I'm glad I'm not alone

When we first got married I hated racing! Every Sunday once the race came on,I left to buy groceries lol
I've just really got into racing the last 4 yrs.I started out liking Jeff Gordon but when JR came along
I thought he was the cutest thing. We even share the same b-day,only I'm 2 years older than him
Steve has always wanted to go a night race. When Jackson is older,we'll prob go
I know Earnhardt was a rough driver but I remember a few GOOD stories about Earnhardt.....
Before I was even a fan,I seen Earnhardt in Food World buying charcoal and hamburger meat.Everyone was talking to him and getting him to sigh this and that.Well he never once tried to get away, say in was in ahurry or anything. He stood there a good while talking to people.Even then I knew of him.I always pictured him as being some smart a** in person as well on the track, but that day I seen how he was really was. He was really into the kids who would walk up to him.He gave one little boy his hat!!!
And another story was about 5 years ago.He was riding with a police officer on the interstate and they were pulling people over.Once the car pulled over Earnhardt got out and gave them tickets to the Talladega race. Of course the camera crews got some footage of that and it was all over our local tv.
How cool would it be to get pulled over and Earnhardt walk up to your window and hand you tickets like that!
He was rough on the track, and thats why many people liked him,and many people didn't but I think off the track,he was real nice man who cared about others
(I'm sure other drivers have done similiar things as well.)

I'm glad I didn't make anyone mad with my "Killer" remark about Marlin. I LOVE that he's out for the year!! He wrecked Ward earlier in the year and that cemented it for me!!
I remember that story about Earnhardt on I-20 handing out tickets. Can't you imagine the grin on his face doing it?
Without the men like Earnhardt who took it seriously and did what they had to win, it wouldn't be NASCAR. Remember the line from "Days of Thunder": RUBBIN'S RACIN'!!!!!!!!!

You sure didn't make me upset over Marlin...When I heard yesterday he was out I just started LOL!!! I'm glad he wasn't hurt more serious or killed (I don't want anyone to die!!!) But I just don't like Marlin!!!!
Oh yea,we watch nascar tonight and RPM as well
