Frugal challenge 9/7 - 9/13
Well, it doesn't look like anyone has started this yet, so i will.
Tonight was spaghetti, with homemade sauce, using browned sausage that I browned a few days ago in a big batch.
- homemade muffins for breakfast
- dh took leftovers for lunch
- lights off.
- washed ziploc baggies
- hung laundry
- combined a bunch of errands
- the dentist had a cancelation after our appts, so she went ahead and did the sealants on ds's teeth, instead of us having to go back
- I had CVS match a target prescription transfer coupon and got a $10 gift card
- paid a bill onlineJennifer

Thanks Jennifer, I was looking everywhere for this thread... WTG on the target GC....
-walked 1h and 15 min. with our neighbourhood walkers today (free program. I do this two days a week).
-picked up a box of clothes from a friend. There are two nice sweaters for me, two nice sweaters for Dh and 8 lovely hand embroidered cotton pillowcases. Also a lovely old fashioned fringed burnt orange bedspread cover... the kind they had in the 70's looks little like tapestry. Don't know what I will do with it. A bit fancy for a picnic blanket LOL.
- Dd had a dentist appointment, no cavities and it is covered by Dh insurance. She also received a toothbrush and travel size toothpaste for free.
-Hung Laundry
- received a free collapsable cooler and 5 coupons for free stouffers paninis from a contest I won (2 months ago).
-crockpot chilli for supper and will make corn bread to go with it.
-put my first $50 in EF
-no spend day today

Monday:
*stayed home, no spending
*laundry in 1/2 detergent and hung out to dry
*cleaned house from top to bottom and made inventory lists for pantry and freezer

~Used a ton of gas today running to appointments, so I had to fill up and my favourite discount gas station was closed WAHHHHHH!!!!
~Went to dentist. Cost $50.15 (most of it was paid by insurance), was told to start saving for some gum surgery! And Dd needs to go to oral surgeon to have her wisdon teeth extracted. Received a free toothbrush and dental floss.
~took youngest to orthodontist appointment to evaluate the treatment to date.... recommended putting in full time(not removable) expanders and maybe even head gear in 9 months or so....the good thing is it all part of the original cost of treatment (all ready paid). They are great orthodontists!
~ everything took alot longer than I thought so I stopped at Deli for lunch with Dd. Cost $7.15.
~ was going to stop at dollar store to buy balloons and party supplies for Dd sleepover party but I was too zonked.
~ Dinner will be breakfast- egg scramble and pancakes (maybe I can start the day again?).
~hung the laundry
~still no heat turned on
~did a survey and received a free shampoo

We've made it 9 days so far with no eating out, and I haven't even eaten out lunch at work!
Monday and Tuesday..
*Dinner was pasta - vegetarian and cheap on Tuesday, Crockpot Pork on Monday (improvised the recipe, and it worked out really well)
*Went grocery shopping - DH hit some good marked down meat at Stop & Shop, and we managed to get out of Trader Joe's spending only $26.
*Entered coke codes and played my last Shell game card
*A/C off all day on Tuesday
*Received a free package of diapers for a product test - woo-hoo!Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06) and Oliver Andrew (5/25/12)

Made 2 zucchini breads
Made 2 zucchini cakes both with zucchini from the garden.
Picked green beans from the garden.
Ran out of flour making the above so went to a different grocery store so I could hit up their sales - pork chop and ribs for $1.49 lb,
40% off kellogs cereal plus used coupons and bought nothing else.
Course now I'm out of eggs!!

okay, I took Mom shopping and did mine too.
I had cash.
My BUDGETED purchases--Gas $60--fill up was $43-woohoo
Had $19 left so I bought the dog food--$10
Bought some hamburgermeat and cheese for lasagna--$8
I still have a BUCK lol and I didn't have to use the check card at all so still a no spend day for me!
Mom gave me $10 for gas-I have it in a check form for later--will use for dds lunch money next week so woohoo still ahead of the budget.
Then she bought me lunch at Casa Ole--woot woot.
Then she bought me two books from Goodwill.
Also, she got my dds some juice, me a hair rinse, gave me a load of vegetables and made me 2 cups of coffee lol.
She also bought the last 9 bars of fel naphta soap the store had to give to me as I keep her supplied in laundry soap.
So not only am I ahead of my budget I also got freebies! The math never lies, budget in INK!

- vegetarian dinner from scratch for the kids and I, dh had a dinner meeting
- lights off
- hung laundry
- making a list for Walmart - I only go once a month and I have to have a very accurate list, so I start making it a few days beforehand
- unfortunately I had to make a few trips from a class to home to drop off, pick up and change ds's clothes after an accident, but a friend was nice enough to bring the second child home after his class
- dh took some homemade soup for his lunch that I had put in the freezer this summer
- friend gave me a big bag of tomatoes today and another friend gave me a big bag of cherry tomatoes yesterday, I think I will dry those
- I picked a bunch of tomatoes from my own garden and used them in our dinner
- making homemade chocolate chip bread right now and also threw in a batch of muffins for the freezer for dd who has food allergiesJennifer

Inventoried all the food in the house. I now know what we have, what we are completely out of. What we could use more of.
So now the next step is to come up with a bunch of meals based on my list.
I usually order the meals by how long it takes to cook - quick, med, long.
I keep my old inventory sheets and what to cook ideas on the computer, so I just have to update the work I already did.
