Hi flashyMcGee i've tried so many times to not buy any more purse this year. Embarrassing to admit the longest i've ever hold out was something like 1 month only. I did a quick calculation last month and i believe I'm at 2 bags per month on average
. 100 days is definitely going to be hard for me but i really want to and need to do this. Hope to hear back from u

This is a really great idea for a challenge - 100 days is tough yet doable. I need to do some thinking to come up with what I will give up though. We gave up buying anything that wasn't a necessity around this time last year, and are still at it, so that really limits what else to cut. But I know there's something, so I will report back.

I am challenging myself to NOT go/shop at Walmart. It has nothing to do with their business practices or all the non made in USA stuff, or any of that.
I want to do this challenge and then compare my spending habits to see if I spend more or less without Walmart.
So starting today...until April 5th 2011 I will not go to Walmart. I have estimated my 2010 Walmart spending for about $500 per month using a download of my debit card statement. I am hoping that by using the local grocery stores (Holiday Foods, Savalot, and IGA) and Dollar General store I will avoid the "extras" that jump in my cart at Walmart. We also have a CVS, Walgreens and a Natural foods store if I need them. I hope to lower my spending and also enjoy other benefits. The other challenge will be we only have a Kmart and Biglots in our area for "big box stores. So I may be challenged if I need a non-grocery something or other.I’ll let you know what challenges I come across as I do this....hopefully not many
If this goes well I may never go back

I have been thinking about this one alot and I have 2 to try that will be difficult for me.
# 1. I am going to stop hitting the fast food places for breakfast/ lunch when I am out shopping. Coffee is still acceptable but I need to eat before I leave for shopping or wait until I come back home or have some fruit in the car. I have no idea how much this will save but I am going to estimate 5.00 minnimum for each time I resist. Should help my waistline as well as my wallet.
#2 I will stop buying a candy bar or a donut while I am at the grocery store checkout line and eating it in the car. I DONT need this junk food....let my wallet get fatter instead of me!

After LONG thoughts on this subject, I have decided not to buy clothes for myself for 100 days!!! If I can make it thru that, I will try not to buy books for 100 days. Then I will try not to buy fabic from the fabric store for 100 days. Then to end the year with the last 65 days, I will give up buying fast food.
OK, that is my plan for the year...LOL. I hope I can make it! Good luck to us all!!!!Mom to Sara Louise (11) Wife to wonderful hubby Chad

Okay, I thought of one. As of January 1, 2011, I will try to make it 100 days without any impulse buys. That means, if it isn't on a list of "MUST HAVE" somewhere, I won't buy it. And no buying off the shopping list when I'm at the store. So 100 days of putting the bling blinders on and avoiding the pet section in the grocery store (because somehow, dog toys always end up in my bag)!! I'm not saying I won't buy my boys a toy in 100 days, but it won't be an, "Oh, that is cute, I'll just pick it up and add it to the cart" item!!
