mm - red pepper humous sounds lovely!

i took my son and two of his friends (my best friends' boys) to the movies yesterday (school holidays here). in the past i wouldn't even try to go cheap - would just go whenever and get everyone popcorn, coke and sweets from the cinema. yesterday i took a different approach!

i had $20 from my friends' husband for their tickets (they cost $10 ea for kids here and about $15 for adults) and my friend had already given me a free ticket voucher she had for me. i ended up buying a kids pass for 5 tickets for $35, so i used three on them yesterday and can take my son and a friend to another movie (he wants to see about 3). i took them to Big W (a bit walmarty i am guessing) and they chose their treats- it came to $16, but the movie stuff would normally cost at least $18 per person. so i spent $4 per person, and they had heaps of stuff to take home. next time i'll refine it even further. oh and after the movie i had to buy cheese and butter, so i made it a game for them to find the cheapest

i also questioned the cashier - i had chosen items on sale, pringles, chips etc and they didn't register at the right price. she had to go and ask a colleague. i was right and they changed it, i think it was only about $1.50 and i have NEVER done that before! am i being frugal yet? lol.

i think that many many mistakes are made at checkout, so i'm making a big effort to check each item now (thanks largely to this site).
