Oh almost forgot - I managed to get a lot of beans cheap so I blanched them and froze them. I also got mushrooms on clearance so I cooked them in some butter and froze them in portions.

    VanVivCam,

Good luck on stopping smoking! I quit 9 years ago partly due to the rising cost of cigs.

I did it cold turkey, but that's what worked for me.

    Monday:
-stayed home all day and spent no $
    -all meals from home
-lights and TV off during the day
-I have new car "fever" and I'm fighting it BIG time...I keep telling myself I don't need one. Really, I don't. My minivan is 5 yrs old but only has 40,000 miles on it. I think I'm just trying to shed my "soccer mom" image (even though I guess that's what I am). Can you say "midlife crisis"?!? LOL

    Monday 10/08

Neighbor invited us swimming (Yes, we were swimming in Oct. in New England).

I brought over some cookies and crackers(all from the pantry) and they served some drinks and finger food. We all had a great time and it was free.

    Tues 10/09

I volunteered to bring in wipes, tissues and hand soap for Oct for my daughter's class. I shopped from my stockpile and was able to send everything in this morning without a trip to the store.

The rest of the day will be cooking and cleaning, so no spending!
