Default Ggrrrhhhh....I'm stuck!

I've continued to work out on the Gazelle doing the 45-60 minute Butt Kickin' Workout 6 days per week, watching my calories and staying around 1200 per day, drinking water like CRAZY......and nothing else except I had a cup of 2% milk this morning. Anyway....I've been stuck at 37 pounds for 2 weeks now. I have to say that we went on a cruise and got back 2 weeks ago....I had gained 4 lbs. but lost that after 2 days. Since then....I've been stuck. I'm trying not to weigh too often but now I'm aggravated that the scales won't budge. Any tips ladies? I'm just sooooo frustrated. I know I can't expect to lose a pound a day or anything but a pound a week wouldn't be so bad....(I'd really love 2 per week)

Lisa! Don't get discouraged. Maybe you are gaining muscle. What about inches? Have you noticed a difference in how your clothes are fitting? Maybe you are still losing, but in inches instead of pounds. Hang in there!!!

I hadn't particularly noticed a difference in inches but my dd who I hadn't seen since the middle of Jan. said she could tell a big difference since the last time she saw me. Maybe you're right Michele, thanks. I think I just got used to losing it so quickly that now that it's slowed down it's a shock...

It is normal to lose alot in the beginning...most of it is water. Don,t stress the scale. Scale is just a tool to help you track your progress, it's doesn't tell you all the truth.

an example, you might have gained 1 pound of muscles in the last two week and lost one pound of fat...and scale is the same.

But check yourself closely in the mirror, check the mesuring tape, check how the clothe fit.....I'm sure you will see a difference

For how long have you been dieting?

IF you have been dieting for a couple month now, it is normal for your body to get "use to" your diet.
Since you have started, have you change your calories intake or have you keep the same? Same with the cardio, have you keep it the same?

You might need to shock your system a little to keep it continue to lose weight.

If you could post a daily meal it would be easier for me to give you suggestion on want to do.

But you could try the following:

You could try cycling your calories. Like do one day at 1400, one day at 1000 and one day at 1200. Over a three day period you would still get an avg. of 1200cal per day, but by cycling your calories you get your body to keep guessing.

Now the cardio. Instead of doing one steady session of 60min. you could try doing 1 sessions of 20min of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and 1 session of 30min of regular cardio.

One 20 min HIIT session could look like this.

5min warm up
2min at maximum intensity
2min. at low intensity
2min at maximum intensity
2min. at low intensity
2min at maximum intensity
5min cool down.

In the high intensity part you have to go ball to the wall give everything you have so your heart beat is around 80% of your max heart rate. In the low intensity part, is the time where you recuperate and get your breath back

Theses are just suggestions. to help you better, I would need to know a little bit more about your current diet and exercise.

Nath

Lisa, don't give up. Now is the time when most people give up, when they get stuck at a particular weight. I've been stuck for awhile too, however I refuse to give in.

It will come off. You've been doing great, don't get discouraged. Keep at it.

In addition to what Michelle said, I was going to say the above. Your body may be complacent now that you've been doing the same things. I think Nath gives you some excellent ideas for starting the weight loss up again.

I need to get back into it as well. I gained 2 lbs over vacation

Lisa,

Believe me I've been there and was stuck too!

Back in May 2005 hubby and I started a diet, watched what we ate and we lost weight, sometimes we wouldn't lose anything from one day to the next and sometimes we did.

Dont be discouraged, if I can do it, so can you! It took me 10 years to finally realize I needed to lose weight, when I started dieting I tried everything... AND I MEAN EVERYTHING! and nothing worked, we then started using this program called DietPower and it kept tracks of calories ate, metabolic rate, for women we could let the system know it was "period" time and it would adjust the calories as needed.

You could even keep track of exercise done from walking up and down stairs, cleaning to exercise programs. It even tell you your projected weight, how many pounds a week you need to lose, etc.

Dont fret! I went a week or so where I was stuck and fustrated, it could be water weight or again muscle.

I'm here if you need support, needless to say I reached my goal and even went below it and all from watching what I eat and majorly cutting back on junk food (i.e. cakes, candies, chocolate, chips, cookies.. you know) and cutting meal portions down.

~Tracy~
