    Default cloth diaper friendly detergent?

What can and can't be used on cloth diapers is pretty restrictive- no brighteners, bleach, softeners, etc. Does anyone know if the recipe I found (maybe here?) that uses fels naptha, borax, and washing soda is safe for cloth diapers? Or does anyone have another recipe that would work? Thanks!

I do a rinse in cold, wash in hot, baking soda & all free and clear, rinse in vinegar and do a second rinse. All has been fine. No rashes, no irritations.

Keep in mind that Fels was one of the very few laundry soaps that has been around for 100 years. If it was good enough for babies in 1908, I'm sure it's safe for them today . Just make sure, naturally, that you rinse any soap well.

BTW ~ diaper pin says you can use Oxyclean on them. I have a few times, but prefer the clothes line to whiten them naturally.

I used Dreft for my babies' clothes, cloth diapers, etc. I always gave them a second rinse. Never had a problem.

I am bumping this up because I just found an awesome recipe to use for cloth diapers. IT is cheap, easy to make, works WELL! It whitens, and is supposed to help take the bad smell out of the diapers. I dont have the borax yet, but I have been using the washing soda and Sun Oxygen cleaner to clean my diapers and it is working awesome!

Here is the link to the recipe!

Cloth Diaper Laundry Detergent Recipe PIF by AikoArt on Etsy

    2 cups borax
2 cups Sun Oxygen Cleaner (Walmart or Dollar General)
2 cups Super Washing Soda (not baking soda)

essential oils (I dont use this)

1 Tablespoon per load I use. Ihavent tried this with borax yet, but I will when I get it. So far the Sun oxygen cleaner and Washing soda is really doing a good job. My old diapers are looking whiter too!
