Do anyone make their own salad dressings?
And if so, are they successful? What I mean by that is are they comparative to the ones bought in the store or better? I'm so tired paying such high prices here for salad dressings.

I make my own "Good Season's" type Italian and Ranch Dressing and they are comparable.
The only thing I have noticed is that the ranch doesn't stay fresh as long as the boughten ones. Can't even begin to imagine the preservatives that must be in the boughten ones LOL!!
As soon as I run out of bought Catalina, I am going to try to MYO of that too

I do, I make my grannies french dressing which is the zippiest and best and I like making the Hidden Valley Ranch but that comes in a packet. Still it tastes better than bottled Ranch. And I make an olive oil and Balsamic Vinegar (1/3 to 2/3) with a couple cloves of crushed garlic in it that dh loves. Don't have time to include Granny's french but I can later if anyone likes. Really garlicky with a tabasco punch to it.

Margery's Granny's French Dressing
(super zippy, hot and garlicky and SO EASY!)
1 cup salad oil (I use extra virgin olive oil)
1 tsp salt
dash of Tabasco
1 tsp or so of Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup red wine vinegar (or a touch more)
3 count em 3 cloves garlic crushed.
Measure all into a glass jar with a good leakproof lid (old jam jars are great) and shake well and serve. Refridgerate for up to 2 months.

Dozymom - thanks for the Granny's French recipe. DH always tells me he likes Zippy French so I'll have to try it.
I make about the same Balsamic Vinaigrette as you do, sometimes I throw in a splash of teryaki sauce.

Our fave ranch recipe is in Marnie's Kitchen Shortcuts by Marnie Swedberg (don't have it on hand right now or I would post it).
