    Default Hummingbird Feeding Solution

The hummers are back here in Virginia! I always use this recipe I found on Recipezaar for the solution in our feeders ~ the hummers love it and it's simple to double or triple if you have lots of feeders.

    Kim D's Hummingbird Feeding Solution

    1/2 cup sugar
    2 cups water

Combine sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes. Cool completely.

DO NOT add food coloring to water!

Fill your hummingbird feeder and keep remaining feeding solution in the refrigerator up to one week.

That's the recipe my wife uses and she makes a large batch at once. She then fills sandwich bags about 1/2 to 3/4 full and freezes them so all she has to do is let them thaw.

Thank you Nancy, we love hummingbirds here. I just looked at the migration map and looks like I had better get my 3 feeders out, they usually don't come this early. Here's the map for anyone who is interested & you can help the site document their arrival as we often do. Hummingbird Migration Maps
