    Default Homemade Windex

Window cleaner can be made at home for pennies! I just made my own Windex!

Pour into your spray bottle with a funnel:

    1/4 cup (rubbing) alcohol
1 tsp dishsoap (I use Dawn)
    2 cups water
    1 tsp ammonia
blue food coloring (optional if desired)

The alcohol really helps it evaporate and have streak free windows and mirrors!

I found a eco-cleaning book. They suggested putting club soda in a spray bottle. I tried it this week. The suggestion to also use a second cloth to buff the glass (just a second wipe really) made a difference. Works like a charm and super cheap.

    Thanks...........I will be trying this.

Wish I could find a window cleaner (homemade) for tinted car windows..........can't use Windex. I think it is the alcohol or something in some of them that will dissolve the tinting. I have to buy it at a car store. (wm would probably have it too...haven't checked)

When I did commercial cleaning, the guy I worked for used Dawn, ammonia, and water, that's it. However, he also used a squeege, so if you're going to use rags instead the alcohol may be a good idea?

To get completely streak-free and lint-free glass, use newspaper pages to clean the windows, instead of cloth or paper towels.
