From jeans to skirt and patches
I had an old pair of jeans in my drawer that I haven't worn since the last big snow we had. Thinking back on them i realized I almost never wear them unless I'm shoveling snow. I decided they needed a second...or third life. I cut them off at the knee and ripped the seam out all the way to the zipper. I sewed them back down to the bottoms and all I need to do now is fold and pin the bottom hem so I can sew that. From the extra parts I cut off I will be patching a pair of jeans that have a hole in the upper thigh area (but otherwise in perfect condition) that I was going to throw out. So now I have a cool, knee length skirt that looks like I paid for it and another pair of jeans gets a second life. Win/Win !

~That's great! I still haven't figured out the jeans to skirt conversion thing. Every time I try I get a weird bump in the front seam. Glad yours turned out well!

Me too! I've always been hesitant because of that bump I always get. I pinned it down over and over again til I got it as smooth as humanly possible lol. Them sewed it. There is a tiny lil bump/crease but the skirt looks good enough to not be able to notice it. At least that's what I keep telling myself. I'll post pics soon. I may even have a pic of the jeans when they were jeans lol.

mek2 - you had better duck!!

Wish I had thought to do this with a pair of jean that got too big - would have made a great skirt - However, I'm working on slipping out of a new pair of jeans - someday - soon I hope!!
Would love to see pictures!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

When a guy's favorite pants fails in the crotch, it's off to the dumpster. No skirt rehab allowed.
Glad to see the OP getting double life out of her pants though!
Now, where are the racy, leggy skirt pics?
