Does anyone make their own fabric stiffener? I am crocheting hearts and need to use some but I don't want to buy any if I can make my own cheaper.

I found a recipe for white glue and the same amount of water or a little less added. I was given 8 bottles of white Elmers Glue (not the washable kind). So I was thinking of trying this recipe.
