I have been making hm cleaners for about a year now. I do it to save money. Ammonia, vinegar, and baking soda can work miracles!

Most of my homemade cleaners are made from 3 things.
white vinegar, Dawn, and one usues bleach

my homemade Clorox Clean-Up = 1/4 c bleach, 10 to 20 drops of Dawn and fill with water in old Clorox Clean-Up bottle. Shake.

my window/mirror/bathroom cleaner = 1 cup white vinegar, 20 or 30 drops of Dawn and fill bottle with water. Shake. I also use this to spray the floor and clean with a Swiffer with an old wash cloth on it.

my laundry pre-treat spray = 1/4 cup Dawn and fill bottle with white vinegar (old Spray N Wash bottle) Shake before each use.

In my carpet steam cleaner I fill the solution holder with white vinegar and a squirt of Dawn.

I use white vinegar in my laundry rinse and use an old wash cloth sprayed with 6 or 7 sprays of 5 caps of Downey mixed with water in a large spray bottle. This lasts forever.

    Hope this might help someone.

I have been using homemade cleaners for at least a year now. I was inspired after ready Clean House, Clean Planet by Karen Logan. Not only are they cheaper, but I feel more comfortable using them around ds and our dogs.

After I finish off my big box of arm and hammer laundry soap I will be making my own. Here is the recipe I will use. I also use vinegar to clean with.

    Homemade Powdered Laundry Soap
    1 box of borax
1 box of Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda
1 bar of soap, grated (can use Dial, Ivory, Felsnaptha, or Zote)

Combine all ingredients and store in a container.

    To use:
2 tbsp per load of laundry

If the laundry is really dirty, I will add 1/4 cup of baking soda

Thanks to Laura W. for this recipe

I've been using homemade cleaners (except for laundry soap....can't find a big bucket to make the liquid in...have to use liquid b/c of sewer problems). I love the homemade cleaners, they work just as well or better and are a fraction of the cost of store bought.
