    Question Homemade lip gloss?

Has anyone made homemade lip gloss? If you have, what containers did you put it in? I think this might be a cute add on Christmas gift even.

This is great. There are so many links online for homemade lip gloss. I hadn't thought of making this as a homemade gift before. Thanks. Now to find some inexpensive containers.

    from eharlequin:

    Scent-sual Lip Gloss

This recipe will add sparkle to your look, and only takes a minute or two to make. Best of all, you choose the color and the fragrance. If you don't have any favorite scents, vanilla, peppermint, and orange are great — they taste good, too! Store in an airtight container, or an old lip balm container.

    1 tablespoon of petroleum jelly
    ¼ teaspoon of lipstick
4 drops of flavored oil or extract
In a small bowl, mix petroleum jelly, lipstick, and oil/extract. Use less or more lipstick, depending on color preference. For a less fragrant gloss, use two drops of oil/extract. Once finished, put into container and enjoy.

    from thefamily.com

    Bev's Honey Lip Balm
    1 TBsp honey
    1 tsp melted beeswax
    2 tsp almond oil
1/2 off the top off a pink or red lipstick to add color.

Melt the honey and beeswax together and then add the almond oil.
When it is all mixed together, add the lipstick and stir in gently to spread the color.
Pour into a screw top jar (I save old film canisters and they work well, or use an old,
washed out Carmex container). Put the lid on tightly and shake well.
Let is cool and set and pop into your purse!

lol at the Kool-Aid. We used to use it to temporarily dye our hair in high school, I didn't know you could use it for lip gloss. Some of those colors would be really funky.

I have actually been meaning to try this, with lipstick that is. I have several too dark lipsticks that I no longer wear, I bet they would be just about right as lip gloss.

    Smile

Bumping up because I came across this:
    Source: http://www.pvsoap.com/lip_balm_recipe.htm

    1½ oz beeswax pearls
    1 oz cocoa butter
    1½ oz shea butter
    2 ozs. sweet almond oil
    1-2 teaspoons flavor oil
1 teaspoon vitamin E liquid (optional, as a preservative)

In a very small pan, add the beeswax and melt over the lowest setting.
Once melted add the cocoa butter chunks and shea butter, let melt, and
then add the sweet almond oil. Heat through. Add the Vitamin E oil.
Remove from stove and pour into a glass measuring cup for easy pouring
    into lip balm containers.

Add the flavor oil, or if you would like to make more than one flavor with
this recipe, separate into different glass jars or cups and then add the
flavor oils. Adjust the amount of flavor oil accordingly. Stir flavor oils in
and pour into lip balm containers. If the mixture starts to harden, place in
the microwave for a few seconds to re-melt and then pour.

Recipe makes 6 ozs or 12-15 - 1/2 ounce lip balm tins.

This lip balm leaves a smooth, non-greasy feeling and will not cake
    on your lips.

    Lip Gloss

    -2 tsp. beeswax
-7 tsp. castor oil or jojoba or sweet almond oil
    -1 tsp. honey
-5 drops of and EO such as lemon, peppermint, orange, lime or tangerine

Melt the oil and beeswax together in a little pan over low heat until the beeswax is melted. Take off the stove and then add in your honey and whisk it all together. When the mixture is nearly cool add in your EO, mix it up again and then pour into your lip balm container. Since this comes out to be more like a gloss you can always add more beeswax to make it harder. About 1/2 tsp.

    Cocoa Butter Lip Balm

    -2.5 oz cocoa butter
    -2.6 oz beeswax
    -1.4 oz sweet almond oil
Melt ingredients together, stir and put into container.

    Hemp Oil Lip Balm

    3 tbsp. coconut oil
    1 tbsp. castor oil
    1 tbsp. sunflower oil
    1 tbsp. hemp seed oil
    1 tbsp. beeswax
    1 tbsp. honey
    EO to taste

Melt the wax and coconut oil together. Add the honey and heat a little. Stir constantly and add your sunflower and castor oil. As the mixture begins to thicken add the hemp seed oil and your choice of EO. STIR CONSTANTLY until it thickens

    Natural Lip Balm
    -8 oz sweet almond oil
    -1 1/2 oz beeswax
    -2 tsp. honey
    melt,stir and pour!
