Wow! Cute homemade gift bags!
I had this idea the other day ..to make cereal boxes into gift bags..
Well now I've got a basic gift bag done! And all I used was glue, tape, newspaper, and some ribbon., empty cereal box, and one dried flower.
I hated throwing out all those cereal boxes and thought there HAD to be a use for them!
I think I'll use this to wrap dh anniversary gift in

Here are a couple of ideas I posted in a Trash to Treasure thread a while back...........
I made gift bags for last Christmas using cereal boxes and pop tart boxes. Just cut the top flaps off and paint the entire box with a solid color of acrylic craft paint. Then sponge paint with another color all over the box and allow to dry completely. Then sponge paint all over the box with another color (like silver, gold or bronze). Allow to dry completely and then punch a hole using a single hand-held hole puncher on each side at the top of the box. Insert a length of decorative cord/rope through one hole and tie in a knot inside the box. Tie off the other end of the cord/rope into a knot inside the box through the other hole - this will make a *handle* for your gift bag.
You can also use cereal boxes, etc. to make ornaments. Last year I cut them apart and traced cookie cutter shapes (bell, snowman, star, etc.) onto the cardboard. I cut the shapes out and let ds sponge paint a variety of colors all over both sides. When dry I punched a hole at the top and strung a piece of ribbon or yarn through (tied in a knot to form a *hanger* for the ornament).

Cool Ornament idea!~~ And VERY baby safe! I was almost not going to put up a tree because of those darn balls etc..but if I can make a bunch of these that wont be an issue anymore
Thanks!

Oh btw I'm not going to only use newspaper to wrap these gift bags with because it'll get ink on peoples hands, but it was just to try it out with, i'll use other things like fabric, and wrapping paper also..and recylcing other gift bags that are bent out of shape perhaps..I was thinking of rubber stamping onto brown paper bags also!

I wanted to add, that I am now cutting the top tabs length wise and then wrapping it with the matching paper for the bag and taping it on the inside to make little matching handles
Haven't tested how much it'll hold without breaking..but it LOOKS cute at least

Ok, have to say after reading this post, you really inpsired me. So what did I do? I went and dug a cereal box out of the trash and cut the flaps off as suggested and painted the box and repainted...lol and then put in some cord for handles. I put in some tissue paper and now all it needs is a gift! They are adorable!! Thanks for that idea!! Everyone will be getting a box as a bag from me from now on.

Something else you can do to *jazz* up the bag a bit is to glue the front of a pretty greeting card to it.
