Make Your Own Deodorant
I wasn't sure where to put this.....
MAKE YOUR OWN DEODORANT AND SAVE YOUR SKIN (AND MONEY!)
If regular deodorants are irritating to your skin sometimes,
then try this homemade recipe:
Combine in a baby powder shaker: 1 part cornstarch to 3
parts baking soda. Sprinkle some on your hands and rub
it in until it almost disappears. The cornstarch helps
keep you dry, and the baking soda works on the odor.
You can also add some scented powder for some added
freshness, or you can put on some of your favorite body
splash before applying your homemade mix.

Get the most from your stick deodorant
I'm not sure where I got this.
Save your next "empty" stick deodorant and crank the little knobby all the way back down. When the next one gets "empty" scrape our the remainig deodorant and put it in the one you saved. If you repeat this process, eventually you will have saved an entire stick deodorant. I hope this makes sense.

when it is full, toss it in the microwave for 10-20 seconds and it melts a little and sticks back together. And it helps to buy the same kind every time.

frugal deodorant recipe
Lavender Deodorant
3 drops of lavendar essential oil
1 tablespoon sugar
16fl oz/470 mls purified water. To purify water just boil 550 mls water in a saucepan for ten minutes with the lid on. With evaporation and steam, you'll have about 470 mls when it's finished.
When the water is coolish, shake the ingredients together in a bottle and leave for two weeks. Then decant it into a spray bottle and shake before each use.
I've used this, it works and it's easy to make.

Make It Yourself: Deodorant recipes
http://www.burkesbackyard.com.au/199...ch_alternative
Ingredients
3 tablespoons of almond oil
3 drops of lavender oil
3 drops of rosemary oil
3 drops of lemongrass oil
1 tablespoon of beeswax
Method
Heat the beeswax with the almond oil on a low heat. Stir well. As soon as the beeswax is melted take it off the heat and add the other oils. Pour the mixture into a pre-heated jar placed either on wood or several layers of newspaper, and allow to cool. To apply, scoop out a very small amount with the fingertips and rub under the arms.
Warning: hot wax and oil can burn - keep out of the reach of children.
Further information
Beeswax pellets are available at craft stores and cost about $2.95 for100gms.
Almond oil costs around $6.00 for a 200ml bottle.
Essential oils (lavender, lemongrass and rosemary) are priced in the vicinity of $8-$13 for 25ml bottles. Although only a few drops are needed for the underarm deodorant, you can use the oils for other purposes. Also if you hunt around you may be able to buy these oils in smaller quantities at craft or health food stores.
As with any products used on the skin, it's a good idea to first test this product on a small area of sensitive skin to make sure there's no adverse reaction.

How to Make Home Made Deodorant
This stops the pong (which is caused by the bacteria breeding and dying in your sweat- your sweat itself doesn't pong at all...or only nicely). It also smells better than any other deodorant I've tried.
4 tbs almond oil
1 tbs beeswax
1 tsp lavender oil
1 tsp rosemary oil
1 tsp lemon grass oil
Heat oil and wax till wax is melted. take off the heat. Add other ingredients. store in a wide mouthed jar. Wipe on a TINY bit each morning. Note: this should last you at least a year...only the lightest smear possible is needed.

Stick Deodorant
4 ounces cornstarch
2 ounces baking soda
1 ounces liquid chorophyll
2 ounces vodka
2 ounces distilled water
8 ounces beeswax
10-15 drops of honeysuckle, rose, coriander or essential oil of your choice.
Mix all ingredients except wax and chorophyll in a bowl, stir thoroughly. Melt wax in top of a double boiler over very low heat, remove from heat. Add the other ingredients and blend well. If the wax thickens too much to be workable, heat again. As the mixture begins to cool, but before it hardens, add the liquid clorophyll and essential oils. Pour into molds. Let harden. Remove from molds. Store in a tightly closed container away from heat to avoid shrinkage.

Pulverize herbs in a blender or food processor until they become a very fine powder. Transfer powder into a clean, dry iron skillet and very lightly pan-roast to set resins and scents. MoM for Deodorant
It's not homemade, but we use Milk of Magnesium dabbed on with a cotton ball.
C.
Check the Ingredients
As a nurse, I know that these are tried and true. The main ingredient in most deldorants is alcohol! If you use plain alcohol with a cotton ball each morning, it will last all day!
