Hot Oil Treatment
by Tawra Kellam
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Heat ingredients just until warm.
Spread on wet hair, especially the ends. (Place only on the ends if you have oily hair.) Wrap a warm, wet towel around hair for 30 minutes to one hour. Shampoo and rinse.
Alternatively, put this on before a shower and then put on a shower cap. Let the hot water from the shower run on your head to warm the oil. You may also use a blow dryer instead of the shower. Be careful not to make it too hot.

Hot Oil Hair Treatment and Bath Recipe
When exposed to harsh winter winds or extra dry indoor conditions over a period of time it may have a drying effect on your scalp and skin. This once a month hot oil hair treatment and oil bath will make your skin feel soft and smooth from head to toe. Give yourself the spa treatment, conveniently in the comfort of your own home. Schedule this thirty minutes before bathing time.
Put a towel in the dryer for 5 to 10 minutes or until nice and warm to the touch.
You’ll need a shower cap for the following.
Hot Oil Hair Treatment
½ c. olive oil (May reduce to ¼ c. for short hair.)
¼ t. peppermint oil
¼ t. vegetable glycerin
Heat combined ingredients briefly in a pot on the stove or in a bowl in the microwave until warm, but not hot. Standing with your head and hair hanging over the sink or tub pour the warm oil onto your hair and gently massage into scalp and all of hair. Put hair on top of head and into a shower cap. Top with the dry, hot towel. Leave on head for 30 minutes while you relax. Draw a warm bath and wash hair while in the tub. The oil treatment from your hair will moisturize your dry skin while you bathe.
Such an easy and enjoyable way to pamper yourself. Be careful when stepping out of the tub, it may be slippery. The oil will need to be cleaned from the tub afterwards too, to avoid slipping.

Shine and Volume Boosting Hair Rinse
Combine one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 2 cups of warm water in a bowl. Pour this mixture over freshly shampooed hair. It works even better if you can catch the run-off in a second bowl and pour it over your hair again, three or four times in a row. This rinse will restore the natural balance of your hair and add shine and softness. Fine hair will especially benefit from its strengthening properties.
Cleansing Rinse
Cleansing rinses are excellent for removing shampoo residue, which can weigh down your hair and make it lifeless. Combine 1 cup of vinegar and a couple of tablespoons of dried rosemary in a glass or microwaveable bowl. Put the mixture into the microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds. Next, use a spoon to crush the rosemary on the side of the glass bowl to release the fragrance. Strain the mixture and let it cool before using. Apply to hair after shampooing, leave on for 2 minutes, then rinse out with cool water. It sounds like more work than it is.
Hot-Oil Treatment
To make a hot-oil treatment for dry hair, place 1/4 cup of canola or soybean oil in a glass measuring cup. Place the cup in a bowl of hot water, and allow the oil to warm. Any vegetable oil will work, but canola oil is a good choice because it contains no added ingredients. Use hands to spread the warn oil through wet hair, leave it in for two minutes tops. Wash hair thoroughly with shampoo. You'll have softer, shinier hair!
Frizz Taming Conditioner
WARNING: Do not use if you are allergic to eggs! In a bowl, mix together 4 tablespoon of plain yogurt (no low-fat) and one egg. After shampooing, pour the yogurt-egg mix onto your head and thoroughly massage it into your hair, working from roots to tips to make sure all your hair gets coated. Leave this on for 5-10 minutes. Rinse out well with lots of cool (not hot or warm) water. This is especially good for softening up dry hair and preventing flyaways and frizzies.
Oily-Hair Treatment
Massage ground cucumber or watermelon (use a food processor for best results) into freshly shampooed hair and leave on your scalp for 15 minutes before rinsing.
Dry-Hair Treatment
Massage mashed avocado into freshly shampooed hair and leave on for 15 minutes before rinsing.
Normal-Hair Treatment
Massage mashed peaches -- no pits of course, into wet hair for 15 minutes before rinsing.

Hot Oil Treatment for Hair
Submitted by Aunty B
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup boiling water
Place olive oil and boiling water into large glass bottle or jar with a lid. Be careful not to burn yourself! Shake very well until oil is emulsified. Let cool a little bit so you don't burn yourself with it, then massage it into your hair. Put a shower cap or plastic bag over your hair and wrap your head in a hot towel that has been soaked in hot water then wrung out. Leave mixture on your hair for about 30 minutes, then shampoo.
