    Default steam cleaner shampoo needed

Does any one have a good shampoo for a bissell steam cleaner?

Iv'e been using either the shampoo they sell, or simple green, then final rinsing with vinegar water.

My carpet is almost white so its real hard to keep clean. Plus I have the 4 cats inside, which of course have to get sick on it.

Does any one use the washing soda in it? I tried using oxy clean, but it destroyed the plastic water holder in my last one.

    Thanks, Any help is appreciated.

I use a 1/4 cup of laundry detergent and a splash of ammonia in mine. I rinse with clear water. I do not use laundry detergent with fabric softener in it seems to attract the dirt after it dries. I also do not use any detergent with all fabric bleach in it. I have tan carpeting which is 7 years old and looks like new.

I have thought about using something with bleach, but don't want to use stuff that will affect the cats. My oldest cat is having some allergy problems, & don't want to flare that up.

Someone on here awhile back said they rinse with the vinegar rinse to pull the shampoo out. but I'll be darned if I can find it again!

I've used a capful of hydrogen peroxide and a quarter cup of Orange Glo filling the remainder of the soap tank with water. Works well!
