    Default Nursing Pads

Does anyone have any patterns for making your own nursing pads? I need them, being a nursing mama and all...but they are like $10 a box at the store.

I was thinking about making some out of cloth diapers (that we currently use as burp rags), but don't know if that would work, or even how I'd go about making them.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

I don't have any patterns for homemade nursing pads, but I do have a very silly sounding idea (I have been doing this for years - when nursing).
Get a package of cheap kotex, take one & cut it in half & stick to the inside of your bra. This is the cheapest way that I know of. Although I use other cloth items for certain things,It puzzles me how to make the homemade nursing pads stay in place.

I made some out of old receiving blankets and flannel pajama pants that I outgrew. Old flannel works better, more absorbant.

I cut them out into circles, stacked a few circles and serged them together. Or zigzag stitch close to the edge. I made 4 layers of flannel for regular ones, for thicker ones for overnight, I put 6 layers.

Just poke them in your bra. The store bought ones I used didn't have anything sticky on them to hold them there.

Thanks for the suggestions! I think I'm going to try yours, Manyhouseapes. It sounds like it would actually work right now, and be pretty cheap! Thanks again!

i had some cotton reuseable ones when i had dd, and they were about the same thickness as the middle part of cloth diapers. they stayed in place on their own. if you decide to make your own, try using one of the burp cloths if you don't have flannel pj's or sheets to cut up.
